Well I just spent the first half hour of being awake learning about auto-mounting.... And I think I just became tired again LOL.
Couple questions:
1) How did you come to use Devuan and why do you use it? (I assume that you used Debian before but switched because of systemd?)
and 2) Could you upload the code?

Heh, well I'll start off by answering them in order.

How I came to Devuan

On the first question, Devuan actually came into inception around the time I decided to move over to Linux (about 1-2 years ago now), and I had a few friends that used it so I decided to talk to them about it. Many of them were anti-systemd (with one of the people that gave me some advice, IIRC, being the creator of the systemd fork uselessd). They told me to avoid systemd. I ended up settling on Debian 7 ("Wheezy"), which was the Stable at the time (Jessie was already in freeze and was expected to release soon) due to me liking the prospect of stability and not having things break except between major releases. I also liked certain things about how it releases (Like, it releases when it's ready). However I knew "Jessie" would gain systemd, so I did some research (primarily on systemd) and decided that systemd wasn't a good thing (in my opinion), and also having an issue with the maintainers.

So I didn't want to give up Debian, but I didn't want to have systemd, so I happened across Devuan, which was entering Alpha. I ended up keeping an eye on it, but remained on Debian "Wheezy" when it came to my desktop. Then my desktop shit itself and I ended up with a laptop a friend of mine gave me (primarily because he had no use for it), and he installed Debian "Wheezy" on it which I upgraded to Devuan 1 "Jessie" (At this time it was in its Alpha 2 release). I've been using it since then. Devuan itself has been remarkably stable, and honestly I can tell little differences from Alpha 2 to Release. I should also disclose I help administrate and run the Official Devuan Forums (I also helped create it).

So as to how I came to Devuan, tl;dr - yes it was a dislike of systemd

I'm really glad to see how much more active and vibrant the forum community has been lately.

So Wintreath just randomly bugged out on me...



(Not a big deal, Ctrl+R allowed me to continue typing again, just found it interesting.)

Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in life, and there's little I can do about it. I work a job that's very necessary, but not necessarily important, which pays just enough to buy food and pay the bills, and I'm stuck in a house in a...deteriorating neighborhood...that I'll be paying off for the next 26 years. I mean, the whole state is deteriorating, so it's not like it'd be anywhere better anywhere else around here.

But I guess that's not really the problem...I guess the problem is that I feel like I've settled down without ever having had the chance to go wild or really live. Our family was always poor, so after high school I went to community college and I had to support my mom, so the opportunity never presented itself. I guess the reason I spend so much time online is because that's where I feel I make the most difference...I love the feeling of building things that people enjoy, or advancing or growing myself in some way, and it seems that's the most accessible way to do that.

But I wonder...what would it be like to live in a big city with plenty of jobs in my field and plenty of things to do? What would it be like to just be able to casually hang out somewhere? What would it be like being around people more like me in real life?

I guess I'm just like everyone else in lower-middle class...wondering how to get unstuck.

I've been thinking about starting up a small blog or something, it would probably be over just programming stuff...would anyone be interested?

I know almost nothing about Programming but give it a shot! You might be pleasantly surprised :]

Now just need to decide where I want to put my blog...on something self-hosted (or similar enough) or on something more like Tumblr....

To be fair I mainly just wanna use it to blog about this emulator project I'm working on...
