So the French presidential election results are coming in, and Emmanual Macron has beaten Marine Le Pen by over 20 points (at this time). Congrats to the French people. Think they dodged a bullet there (though personally Macron isn't left enough for my taste).

And in ten years they will hate him. I wish that Le Pen won, then after the people see how destructive her policies are the national front will be destroyed.

Eh, I think as it is they saw how bad Trump is in America and decided they didn't want that for themselves. I'm not sure...has any similar movement won since Trump? I know three have lost in the Netherlands, Austria, and now France.

Look at Thatcher and Reagan; they're still beloved, fucking incomprehensible as that should be, despite the fact that their policies have clearly led to worse outcomes for 98% of people, and better ones for only 2%. Of course, it helps that the 2% they helped are the rich and powerful, who have inordinate control over the media and thus our culture as a whole, and more importantly that people in general have a very poor grasp of cause and effect, which is why people are looking back on George Bush now and thinking 'yeah, he wasn't that awful' - he allowed a financial crisis of catastrophic degrees occur on his watch, of course he's fucking awful.
