I gotta say I am not IFL's biggest fan, but I do totally agree with this article.
(Though as usual I was dismayed by the comments)
The views it talks about are anti-scientific and if people want to hold them they should try and own it, like most climate change skeptics these days; what the article talks about is backed up by solid scientific data and papers I am glad you shared it, thanks Laurentus!

Just voted, and now I have to go to work. Afterwards, my wife and I are leaving for our 15 hour drive to Austin, Texas, where we'll spend the next few days checking out the city as we're planning to move there in the summer. Gotta get the hell out of rural Indiana.

Damn that's a long drive. Understandable, though. I can't stand rural Indiana when I'm driving through it, let alone if I tried to live there.

I've always liked rural areas the most. Whatever people live there can just be ignored and avoided, which works fine for me.

And yeah, IFLS are often not the best source for hard science and they can make me angry with very click-baity headlines and articles that don't amount to anything, but they're entertaining from time to time.

That article reminds me of Myles Power's Youtube channel. He talks a lot about conspiracy theories (his 9/11 truther debunking is among my favorites), pseudoscientific stuff (like homeopathy), and GMOs.

Indiana is just so boring though. Miles and miles and miles of flat land with nothing but farms as far as the eye can see. And when you get far north enough it gets all grey, rainy, and nasty. Oh, and for the love of god don't go anywhere near Gary.

Hmm, perhaps we have two huge differences in what we picture when thinking of rural areas. I think either of sub-tropical woodlands (Mpumalanga and Natal), or semi-desertous regions (the Klein Karoo, which forms part of the Kalahari desert).
