As a Mac user myself (it's what I use as my primary machine) you certainly can. You have two options.

Run it as a separate install, and boot directly into it on system boot. This is done using Boot Camp. Benefits are you have direct access to the hardware, and you're not competing with two OS's for CPU and memory, so it gives far better performance. Drawbacks are that it's difficult to interact between your Mac and your Windows OS versions, and that you can only run one or the other.

The other option is to run it as a Virtual Machine on your Mac OS. You can use software such as Parallels, VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox. Benefits are better integration with your Mac OS, and you can run the two OS's side by side. Drawbacks are all performance based.

I've just found out my grandmother has skin cancer. Somehow, nothing I could say would be adequate.

My dad had skin cancer that turned out to be very treatable.. I assume your Grandma's is in an advanced stage?

We don't know yet. I've been doing research about it, and it seems that, in all probability, she could have a version that isn't serious, but as I literally don't know anything more than that she has it, I can't comment on what stage it is at. I'm hesitant to make any links to medical problems she's been having over the last couple of years, because I'm not a doctor. Any such links could well be over-reactionary conjecture.

My condolences to you and your grandmother Laurentus, and best of luck - hopefully it's nothing too serious.

As I understand it, most skin cancers are easy to treat and have a low chance of recurrence if caught early...I hope that your grandmother is part of that category. I'll keep her in my thoughts...please keep us posted.
