So, because people asked, here's what happened with me and my Mi-35 Hind helicopter (my 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid). I took a nap when I came home and just woke up.
This happened around 0300. I drove home from the karaoke bar. I was driving on the I-15 towards the fork where the CA-78 is and I apparently dozed off. When I woke up, part of the car was in the air and I landed with the car facing oncoming traffic. I apparently hit the median barrels between the 15 and 78 exits.
the front of my car was pushed inward and the engine hood got popped up and pushed inward. Driver's airbags on front and left side deployed. The force of the car got my seat belt unbuckled a bit and my glasses were thrown to the dashboard above the driver's seat.
A woman who witnessed it called 911. Another person helped me get out of the car as the driver door was pushed open from the landing but jammed. The woman gave me her name and number and left once CHP and paramedics arrived. Save for a rash on my neck from seat belt burn, I am ok, pretty shaken up.
That car saved my life that I had since June 2008. CHP took me to a nearby Denny's around 4 am where I had been waiting for a ride until about 0800, when a local friend was willing to make the drive to come take me home. I had already called State Farm and filed the claim.
I am shaken, not stirred. Thank you to those who reached out.
On the positive side, 83 applications submitted, 18 applications rejected later, and I had a phone interview today with General Atomics.
