  • I feel that concision is key. If you're not able to convey your points without using a wall of text, what's the point? Learning how to effectively slim down your writing is a valuable skill, especially where there is a lot of information to share.

That said, I prefer the Challenges/Benefits sections of the old version, even if the new version is "easier to read".

  • Constructive Criticism is good however too much constructive criticism is not good.

Non Constructive Criticism is very common and rude.

  • I wasn't trying to be critical, I was just stating my opinion on writing in general.

As for the old sections, I just felt they had more personality and were a better-worded explanation. Chalk it up to a primacy effect, where the first thing I saw seemed more memorable only because I viewed it first.

  • I feel like Summersend just slipped away under our noses. I don't believe that damned bartender at the tavern gave his customers their refreshments either! >:(

  • This is an unusual feeling for me.

For...years...I've felt stressed and overwhelmed by a lot of things, especially the shit that was going on in the neighborhood I was living in. But we moved from there in October, I started focusing on getting more sleep, I was able to start tackling more work without so much stress, I was able to focus more on Wintreath, and I started a new system where I try to accomplish 1 thing in each area that I want to work on in a day so I'm productive but I don't get burned out.

So I've done all that for today, I've showered, I'm well-rested, I watched an episode of The Crown, and I'm waiting to watch a Christmas movie with my mom in 40 minutes. And I have no idea what to do with myself, lol. It's been so long since I've done more than work on things and worry that I don't know what to do now, lol. My first instinct is to tackle some piece of region work...there's always region work...but I've already done region work today, and I'm adamant that I don't want to do more than I planned unless I absolutely have to. I could play a game, but nothing really comes to mind...I've done a lot of reading lately, and don't feel like doing that at the moment either.

I guess to put it simply, I'm bored, lol. But it's been so long since I've been bored that it's actually a good, restful feeling lol. I'm going to have to find more hobbies now, I suppose. :P

  • Thanks, @Red Mones and @The Greenlandic North. :)

Last night after a very early and tiresome day (I can't remember the last time I woke up at 6:30am), I felt the need to disconnect, so I logged off Discord and spent periods between sleep playing My Time At Portia, this time with a new character from the start.

For those who don't know, My Time At Portia is one of my favourite games, and is kinda like Stardew Valley but instead of being on a farm you're on a workshop (although you can still farm too) where you take commissions to build things in order to make money (and improve your standing with town NPCs). I love this kind of game because it's so relaxing...there are no hard objectives that you absolutely have to do. There are quests in the form of commissions from Portia itself that develop the area and even open access to new areas (the first such quest is to build a bridge to a nearby island), but there's no time limit and you could choose to do a lot of other stuff instead...take commissions from individuals in the town, fish, farm, ruin dive (their version of mining, where you find ores, ancient technology, and relics you can put together for bonuses or to sell), talk with NPCs, participate in events when they're going on...

That's what really makes My Time At Portia a better game to me than Stardew Valley. They're both fine games, but where Stardew Valley always felt a bit lonely and desolate to me, Portia feels vibrant and bustling. There are easily three times as many NPCs that you can interact with, and like some RPGs they'll actually comment on the things you accomplish. And if you follow through the quests and watch the area actually change after completing them, it actually does feel like you're accomplishing something.

I suppose I like this sort of game because it seems like so much of my day is spent on trying to accomplish things...it's nice to enjoy a more freeform game where you don't have to accomplish anything if you don't want to.

Yes! And it's on sale right now for $10.19! Apparently there's also a demo on Steam if you want to try before you buy. Personally as much as I love the game I think the full price of $30 is a bit much for this kind of game, but $10 is pretty reasonable.
