    I meant make me work for the permission. My character reviews the weapons system, notices a flaw in functionality, presents it to the captain, argues his case to begin modifications, and eventually gets permission after some amount of story drama. You know, keep it fun and interesting.

    So does the FTL drive rely on warp technology?  I don't think that it'd be even close to as advanced as hyperdrive—that'd make the idea of exploring the galaxy slightly small, don't you think?  One side of the galaxy to the other in a day with that tech.

    We can't use FTL tech as of yet, apart from when there's an emergency, since we're using a prototypical FTL system that will likely kill us.
