Yes, the game and regions seem quite overwhelming so it would be helpful.

Section II: Interests
There are many things that you can get involved with here in Wintreath, both to help the region and just for fun! Based on your answers to the questions below, we will help you get involved in any aspect of the region that you're interested in so you can hit the ground running fast. Indicating interest here does not commit you to joining any aspect of the region, but will help us guide you to where you want to be here.

1) Are you interested in being part of our regional military?

No.

2) Are you interested in forum roleplays (character, national, etc)?

I've never tried roleplay before, but I would be interested to try it.

3) Are you interested in playing in our Minecraft server?

Maybe in the future if I get back into Minecraft.

4) Are you interested in general region-wide games, such as Civilization V? If so, what games would you like to see?

I'm very interested in Werewolf; never tried Civ V but might be interested to try it in the future.

5) Are you interested in regional politics (elections, running for legislature, writing bills, etc.)?

Yes.

6) Are you interested in general community discussions?

Yes.

7) Are you interested in serving as a diplomat or an ambassador to another region?

No, the standard NationStates seems enough for a newbie.

Are you interested in regional journalism (writing articles for inclusion in regional publications)?

Maybe in the future when I'm more familiar with the region.

9) Are you interested in creating graphics for the regional website?

Yes, I like using Photoshop so that could be fun.

10) If you have any other interests you'd like to pursue in the region, please tell us about them! We can make just about anything happen as long as people are interested in doing it.

Are there sports discussions in the off-topic forums? I'm very interested in a few sports, it would be fun to find out if there are other fans.

Hey everyone, I'm a new NationStates player trying to figure out how everything works around here. I liked the sound of this region from the telegrams, mainly because I noticed there is Werewolf games after a quick scan around the forums.

I can think of a few people that would be pleased to hear you are interested in graphics

Anyway, I don't know of all that much sports discussion going on, but you can probably start your own topic about it.

Also we are in the midst of planning the next werewolf game so feel free to get involved with that as well!

@Point Breeze should assign you a mentor soon...he's our Jarl of Integration, but you can also ask any questions that you have here in the topic. Key topics...hmm, I'm not sure there are any outside the guide we posted on the region page, but you should continue poking around. We have something for everyone. I'm sure you'll find things that you'll enjoy.
