Well, its an unfortunate reality of being born where I live, here in Singapore. I just hope that they dont put me in the rangers or something.

You cannot pick where you end up, it is assigned to you. And before you know it, we'll have the name changed to Singaporeath :]

I'm sorry to hear that...most nations have some kind of alternative civilian service for those that object to military service. I'm surprised conscription is a thing in Singapore actually...it's not really like the most militarily involved nation out there.

Honestly, we still have it because we would not be able to fill up important civil service jobs like police and firemen otherwise. About 80% of the SPF are NS men.

Oh no, NS men get sent to fill up positions in the SPF and SCDF but the military has nothing to do with them. NS here is not just for the military, basically.

Its nice. The people I've met so far seem alright. Then again, I thought that before.

Anyway, can I ask you something? I was reading the newcomer's dispatch and say that I could serve in the civil service. How do I apply?
