I confess I like to lay in bed and pretend my pillow is a woman....oh why hath I confessed this so publicly?

I confess that you never actually pointed out the point of the thread and it says confess anything you wish sooooo...

To confess something means to say something true that you haven't said to people.

I.e.  I confess I need to be eating more, but I am short on food and need to conserve food money.

Not true.  I confess that to confess something is to say something that not many know, and it doesn't have to be a crime.
