  • Yes, but you want to extend it to those who lie too. Technically, the smallest factual discrepancies could be considered lies, so if someone reports on what they saw, while believing that they are being completely honest about what they observed, and it turns out to be a factual discrepancy, would they then also get their citizenship revoked?

    Let me illustrate my point.

  • I get your point. We'd have to somehow define what would be considered a lie if we decide to extend it to lying as well.

    • To sit back hoping that someday, some way, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last - but eat you he will.

  • You also have to realise that this is NS. We're not dealing with murderers and so forth. The absolute worst thing we could ever end up dealing with in our courts don't quite demand these stern approaches. People could have a multitude of reasons for not showing before the court, and I don't think we want to go down the path of punishing just about everyone who couldn't or wouldn't testify because of a multitude of reasons. At least not that severely.

  • I do realize that, but I can't think of a milder punishment other than restricting posting permissions to certain areas for a short time.

  • Perhaps this would be the prime time to consider some sort of progressive warning system then. What do you think of the subject?

  • Well, I know that I receive email notifications on my phone whenever I receive a PM or am mentioned in a post. If they're not receiving the same, we could TG their nation(s). Unless they have other means of contact listed, that's about it.

  • No, I mean what do you think about the idea of developing a progressive warning system to deal with offenders so that we don't have to dish out disproportionate punishments to the slightest offences. How do you think this could be done?

  • Like baseball's three strikes and you're out? Sounds ideal for this, though three strikes seems a bit short.

  • I think it should perhaps be a level-based thing. If you've not gotten a warning yet, you're on level 1 of the disciplinary scale. The moment you get a warning, you progress one third of the way to level 2. Meaning you need 3 warnings to get to level 2, and then we shorten the stick. From level 2 you only need 2 warnings to get to level 3, and at level 3, you get tried before a court to determine your penalty.

That means there should be a court that everyone's happy with, however.

EDIT: But that also begs the question of: "Who gives the warnings?"
