I know you're all not stupid, so I'll be honest with you. As a fresh face here, I know nothing of Wintreath politics. I have, however, served on the Imperial Council in the region New Hyperion since November of last year. Granted, it's not as impressive as Chancellor, held by Laurentus, but I still participate in lawmaking. I helped to shape the New Hyperion law foundation as it was being made.

When I see a problem, I won't hesitate to point it out, and I will always offer a solution. My solution won't always be the best, but that's why we discuss these matters, right? Two heads are better than one, or in the case of the Underhusen, five heads.

I will approach everything with an open mind and will keep the citizens of Wintreath in mind with every decision. I will hold no bias towards any one person or group. I am a fast learner and very adaptable.

My only wish is to be given a chance. Without one, I won't know how good I will be here, and I won't know how to improve.

That's actually the type of campaign I prefer. You don't make any promises you potentially won't be able to keep, you just ask for a chance.

Be aware, however, that although you and I are region and house mates, I'm going to grill you here if the opportunity presents itself. Please don't take it personally.

Have you begun looking into Wintreath law?

Laurentus, I never take anything people say on the internet personally. People can say anything they want because talk is cheap. It's the actions people take that define who they are.

I've actually just started. I have Wintreath law open in a separate tab so I can watch the campaigns and read up on law at the same time.

Well, I've seen you on here enough to know that you've got a good head on your shoulders, so I'll wish you luck in elections. 

What is your main legislative goal for this term should you be elected?

My main goal overall is to learn and adapt to Wintreath government. My legislative goal is to see where some of the red tape can be removed without any negative effects on the people of Wintreath and the operation of its government.

My general philosophy on law is to keep it as streamlined and efficient as possible without any detrimental effects. My policy is to keep as much freedom as possible for the citizens and even provide more if I can.

From what I can see, there's a problem with witnesses not showing. There's nothing to either promote witnesses to show up or punish if they don't. A witness could be called and that person could decide he/she doesn't want to get involved.

I just spotted this from an initial reading of the Judicial Offices Act. I'll analyze further to spot more things wrong with it.

Well, you've actually spotted a problem that I've not been able to spot once in the many times I've read it. O.o

And that is actually a pretty big problem, come to think of it. How would you go about trying to fix that, however?

We could threaten to take away their citizenship for a month or two for not showing. I've also noticed how there's nothing on lying on the stand meaning that witnesses could lie about everything and get away with it.

That might have the opposite effect of scaring people so much that they will refuse to testify out of fear.

Honestly, that's one of the milder punishments I came up with. We don't even have to take away their citizenship for that long. And we can give them some time. Ten days to show up and answer the question(s).
