The World Assembly,

Hoping to preserve a record of what The Black Riders have accomplished throughout its history,

Noting that The Black Riders have received a Security Council Condemnation, and accepting its effects,

Arguing that the actions of a region are not black and white, and that a region can make actions worthy of condemnation and commendation at the same time,

Recognizing The Black Riders as one of the most well known military institutions in the world,

Noting The Black Riders’s policy of unbiased participation, allowing nations of almost any ideology or religion to participate in regional affairs, as long as they are respectful to others,

Lauding The Black Riders’s endorsement of democracy when electing World Assembly Delegates,

Applauding The Black Riders’s participation in the liberation of Nazi Europe from Fascist forces,

Observing their efforts to refound founderless regions, such as DEN, Islamic Revolution of Iran, Angola, Internet, Charon, Whitereach, K and J Alliance, The Silver Isles, Region of Reunited Muslim States, Ixnay, and many others,

Attesting to The Black Riders’s contribution to other large founderless regions by bringing them into international relevance through occupations that do not end in refoundings, for instance in the regions SPACE, Anarchy and The Mountains to the East,

Acknowledging the large amount of time and effort that must be put into tagging, occupations, and refounds,

Appalled that The Black Riders’s region is constantly bombarded by insults and slander,

Impressed by the fact that, despite the previously mentioned insults, The Black Riders has instituted a strict policy of not seeking revenge, and that the residents of The Black Riders always provide polite, if blunt, responses,

Asserting that The Black Riders unite nations and regions of all kinds through the actions that they take,

Citing the clear increase in activity in regions that have been tagged by The Black Riders, and the many friendships formed through discussion of them,

Interjecting that Defender regions have been commended for their organization and success, despite that fact that The Black Riders has just as much, if not more, organization and success than them,

Realizing that this very council has commended self proclaimed “Defenders” for actions that would not have been possible without the existence of The Black Riders,

Stressing the fact that a large of number of resolutions passed by this Security Council, which acts as a symbol of international peace and diplomacy, would not exist without the extensive efforts of The Black Riders,

Pointing out that many Defender regions have been commended for their actions, yet they have failed to stop, or even significantly slow down The Black Riders, showing this council’s corrupt bias against institutions like The Black Riders,

Accepting that The Black Riders have instilled a greater interest in regional defense, regional politics and international diplomacy throughout the world,

Hereby Commends The Black Riders.

Why not, right?  In all seriousness, the author has a good argument, but he's having trouble getting past the lemmings who just read "TBR" and think "ewww, raiders!"  I'm not going to let my fenda allegiance cloud my judgment of this proposal - I'm a professional! 

I like the end bit of light cannot exist without dark, very amusing. Unfortunately kind of the weakest part of the argument.
The rest of it is quite good however and I would support this commendation... Duality and fenda supremacy in the sc has existed for too long to make sense...

This is obviously an attempt to build a legacy for The Black Riders that I feel they do not deserve...they lost their region because their leader and another high-ranking member allied with a delete-on-sight player to produce and use illegal recruitment scripts, to use hosted images to spy on other regions and gather IP addresses, and to threaten others in NSGP, including other raiders. I find absolutely nothing commendable about that, and yes I'm aware those are a few individuals, but those individuals were in the leadership of the organization.

Over the past few years, opportunism has taken hold of NSGP and it's descended into a toxic 'anything goes' atmosphere where the first and only objective is to advance yourself, your region, and your 'side' at all costs, and any principle is considered over-the-top 'moralism'. People no longer respect regional or GCR sovereignty, there are now people that openly advocate forum destruction as a legitimate R/D tactic, and most recently we have seen players work with Nazis to advance their own region. Sadly, these people are almost never rebuked or punished by the community at large, which has only brought about an evermore toxic and opportunistic environment.

Now it's descended to the point to where finally someone has crossed the line that required punishment from the game staff, and I don't see any reason to support a narrative about them that completely ignores that fact and would essentially reward a region that was justly punished for cheating. While I agree with many of the claims in the proposal, I believe the recent opportunistic actions of their leaders (should) have soiled their region beyond any other consideration. A grave line was crossed, and because of that their legacy should be one of shame, not honour.

On a note, is it official that this is actually going to go through?  According to the thread, this was something posted back in December that is still getting replies. 

I did notice that this is a rather old draft, but that's not unusual. Given the recent regime change, its expected that some TBR related issues will get more attention.

Agreed.  Well put.  I am also against this.

I'm a former member of TBR, but I'm neither for nor against this.

Do TBR engage in activities such as forum-destroying?

I'm actually a relatively new player, having started about a year and 4 months ago, and for the first 8 months, I was never involved in the gameplay side of things.

They have/had individuals that have crashed forums, such as Ridersyl, but I'm not aware of any attempt to destroy a forum as an organization.

As WM said, individuals affiliated with the organization have been accused of such, but I wouldn't say its a common practice.

However, what is their general stance on RMB preservation?

I don't think they have a stance...most of their ops are tag raids, so at worst the RMB is suppressed. If they have the chance to they do participate in refounds, I believe, which would destroy the old RMB.

And I suppose they don't give natives the opportunity to back up the RMB posts first, because obviously it can't happen if they suppress the RMB?
