  • I'd very much like us to have one in a medieval village sometime, where we hunt witches or something. I'd also like for it to be a completely IC one.

  • I could write the things! You could play the game, as some sort of omniscient god character that just wants the game to be interesting or something.. keep it from stagnating. Maybe you could have a power .. and the players have to pray to you for it, in PMs, and you grant a boon or something.. =p

I'd also like IC. I tried this last game but nobody else was so I gave up..  :P

  • The only character I can think of that would fit the bill and was around in that part of the game is Tichondrius, and I'm not sure the villagers would pray to a Dreadlord. :P

Still, I'll give it some thought...it's an intriguing idea...

  • Well, I think we could probably use a short break after this one, but it would be nice to have games more often. It's an intriguing idea to co-host...how would that work? I mostly don't think I could craft story posts that detail what happened in a manner as great as Pengu. :P

Either way, at this point we should focus on making sure the idea is as great as possible in case something happens with it sometime...

Do it how Laurentus did it with his (though he was purely the host, I was just helping him set up his game :P).  It doesn't have to be necessarily be two hosts in the thread, but you could collaborate together on ideas, how the story should go, and whatnot.

I've never actually been part of a game with actual co-hosts, but it's certainly possible.

Also, it could be in the point of view of the Orcs as well, didn't they have someone they always prayed to?

  • Actually could just be a role.. the host would relay pms (prayers) to a "god" character, who would have an enumerated list of things they could do.. for one of an enumerated list of prices. For example, the god could demand that the person vote a certain way or something, in exchange for divine protection. You'd have to limit the number of prayers that can be answered... maybe 1 per round.

Might just be confusing .. could be fun though.

  • In the case of an actual player being the god, they would be more like a mortal vessel, an avatar of that god. They aren't omniscient, and they don't have access to the powers they can grant to others themselves. They can also be killed.

They wouldn't even know who was praying to them.. ;)

A mortal god?  Sounds a bit like an oxymoron to me... :P

  • I have an idea I've been mulling over in my head.

What about a mob related one? One where the Wolves are not actually the bad guys? Bear with me here, lets say that the wolves and werewolf are Confidential Informants and Undercover Cops respectively. They dont kill, they arrest characters until none remain. The Villagers, or Wiseguys, are killing anyone they suspect by "lynching" them. And one person is the Don, he gets to automatically cause someone to be lynched three times. The Seer could be an Information Broker or Spy, the Lookouts will be.. well, Lookouts and the Negater will be a Rouge FBI Agent.

We could come up with Wiseguy names like, I dont know, Jimmy the Rat and act totally IC. What do all of you think?

I'm just teasing.  I like that rule set, actually.  Sort of classic Mafia but with some twists.

There is a game called Mafia? I did not know that. Also, I just gotta say I am in a mafia mob right now after playing Life Of A Mobster. Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, Godfather, I've got a mob bug.

Actually, Werewolf and Mafia are one and the same.  Mafia is normally what the offline version of Werewolf is called.  Which the concept is the same, though less open to creative interpretation:

Players sit around in a circle, the GM/host sitting in the middle or walking around.  A seer is elected, as is a single wolf (sometimes 2).  I can't recall if Defenders are actually in the offline game or not.

During the "day" phase, the players talk amongst themselves like a normal game of Werewolf, figuring out who the werewolves are.  During the night phase, everyone has their heads down.  When a role is called, the player(s) in that role open their eyes and choose their targets.

Outside of that, it plays the same.  "killed" targets are taken out of the game, and it goes until either the wolves have killed everyone and equal the remaining players, or until the players successfully figure out the wolf...which in the original game's case, the roles would have different names.
