  • For Your Information Asks the Candidates
Instead of attempting to do a real-time debate on IRC between different candidates who have different schedules, I thought it would be better to post a different question each day and allow the candidates to respond and debate with each other if they would like to. There will be a variety of questions addressing issues that are or may become relevant in Wintreath or the greater NationStates world. I hope that all of our candidates will take the time to participate in these debates so that our voters are better informed of where they stand on the issues. :)

I ask that ONLY Underhusen candidates reply to this topic. However, if you have any questions or areas you would like to see the candidates answer on, feel free to contact me on here or on IRC. :)

    Debate 1: Wintreath and Defenderism
As you know, Wintreath is a newly-formed defender region. In your opinion, what are the the current issues facing defenderism as a whole, and what can Wintreath do as a region to address them and to improve defenderism in general? What do you believe Wintreath can contribute to the defender alignment?

The current issues facing defenderism are active soldiers, actual soldier count, and petty feuds between the 3 large defender forces (UDL, FRA, and 10kIslands). Wintreath, as a hub of activity, and great foreign relations, can connect with other regions, and combine our forces to create a even larger military. We, as a region, can contribute both well trained soldiers, and a lot of people, numbers wise. We have a LOT of experienced defenders that we can be using to our advantage. Not only that, but we DO have some great mediators here, so hell, we could even possibly help the regions connect more often. If we look to last night, we can see that, when combined, we do much better (for those who don't know, last night FRA, while stubborn, helped UDL and RRA in defending). If Wintreath can train at least 5 active soldiers, the odds will turn back in our favor. If we DON'T start getting our asses in gear, defenderism will crash and burn, if it continues at this pace.

  • I'm not up to date on current defender issues but I believe that Wintreath can become one of the premier defender regions if we do it right.

While I'm not on the defender scene, nor do I know that much about it, other than the basics of how it works. Also if(and when) Delegate Elect makes it's way into the game, then it would be useful to have a standardized Time measurement. Again of the candidates, I'm not a militaristic player so I stay away from things involving military.

I only know very little about the raider/defender part of the game, and since my knowledge about its current issues is almost non-existent, I cannot really opine on it. However, since there are several other defender regions, Wintreath could very well cooperate with them as it develops its own military.

Well, I believe that a major issue facing defenderism is our lack of unity. We have the UDl, FRA, SDF, WRH, and countless other defender-aligned militaries, and half of them don't agree with one another. I think the fact that many members of Wintreath come from places such as SDF and UDL, it will help us emerge as a leading defender region.

What do you believe Wintreath can contribute to the defender alignment?

I think, as stated above, that we can contribute unity. We already have members putting aside their UDL or SDF views to serve defenderism better. We are a diverse region, and I think that will help us in the long run.

  • What is wrong and what could we do to improve it.

Wintreath, a progressive region is a defender region that chooses to protect other regions' independence. I think that the main issue that faces defenderism is the fact that there is too many, an internal problem. Like Denth Rowan said, we need unity within Wintreath and within the defender alignment. What Winthreath could do is engage in talks with other defender regions to unify our armies and make an alliance. This would also put us at the forefront of the defender alignment.
