  • The thing is though is that your assessment of the Monarch's power is somewhat false. You seem to mix the Monarch and the Winter Nomad together, which are two different positions although one person holds them at this time.

As a monarch he could dismiss you from the region, although not as easily. He can't really ban you from anywhere else if he were just the Monarch.

The Winter Nomad(a position that Moot holds as well, which is the root admin for the region and the founder), has the power to ban you from everything else. Hell not even the monarch could ban you from the IRC if the Winter Nomad refused.

Also Reon while that may be true now, the culture and regional dynamics can change easily. Meaning that at this moment that's true, but what if it changes a couple months to a year from now and that statement is no longer true? What if Wintreath moves from a Cultural Centered Region to a Political Centered one? Obviously the leader itself would have to change, but also the conditions to lead would change as well.

Although this is also a legislation difference as well. What you perceive to be an truth I perceive to be a constantly changing variable that can change quickly, and as such when I legislate I tend to look at a what-if we get a monarch that's radically different from wintermoot. It is possible that it could happen, and as such Wintreath's Culture would have shifted as well, however again we need to think about that as well.
(although it is absurd to believe that either outcome is fact, until it occurs).

We also need to keep in mind potential effects this could have as well. It could cause people to not join the region or cause people to leave the region, thus shrinking our already somewhat small numbers. In the future this amendment could be regarded as having been highly idiotic and a bad idea from the start.
    See you later space cowboy.

Also, I highly doubt this region will be able to exist, in the same way, under any other monarch except for Wintermoot or someone very like him. I choose to legislate and plan as if that statement was assuredly true.
You appear to have entirely missed this little comment and also that I specifically said Wintermoot and not the monarch could do all those horrendous mean things to me.

I will however directly respond to this.
The Storting works as representatives of people for the law. If something presented by one guy makes it through all of them then (by what, if I remember correctly, is Hobbesian political theory. Please correct my if I'm wrong I've got to use this shit for class later.) it seems likely that it is an accurate representation of what the people want.

  • And now we've come to the crux of this debate...it's never been just about a judicial system that will rarely if ever be used. It's about what this region is, what it should be in the future, and what people want it to be.

Some people embrace this idea because they feel that it would lead to swift and decisive justice without political drama, while others view it as a travesty because it would even further slam the door on politics in the region and grant even more power to a position they're obviously uneasy about as it is. I have often considered myself the guardian of the region's principles and values, and it would seem some like Reon feel I have 'gotten us by rather nicely' in that regard, while I suspect some others view me instead as a large obstacle to what they would like this region to become.

It's just an observation, based on themes I've seen coming about of multiple debates as of late.
