Language barrier here. I detect defensiveness in your writing voice...
I am not using these terms in a perjorative sense, or as epithets. Remember, I am a college professor, and I use these terms as observations which carry no subjective baggage.
"vested interest" is simply a term I use in Economics every day - we ALL have vested interests, and we ALL act upon them as rational human beings. That's how we can predict Human Behavior.
"fascism," rather than being some dark nazi force, is simply the natural tendency of power centers to maintain control and order through mutual support of other power centers. Frankly, I consider compulsory military drafts to be fascist in nature, and the current governments of both the USA and UK to be fascist. Again, that is not meant as a finger-wagging, arm-in-the-air criticism, but simply an observation as to How Things Work...and since humans play NS, and humans run governments, it's not surprising to see patterns.
