So, yeah. I'm thinking of starting a Castlevania RP up here. For those who don't know Castlevania is a very old game series, originating on the NES, centred around defeating the Dark Lord, Dracula. There's a large amount of lore here, but the gist of it is that Dracula never really dies until the Demon Castle War of 1999, in which he is finally killed because his castle ends up sealed inside a lunar eclipse.... however the hell that works. Funnily enough, that never gets shown in-game. In an explosion of headcanons and stuff, we're going to try to RP it here.

Is there going to be some structure to it (like DnD) or is it going to be basically free form?

Well, we have a basic story already planned out, but yeah, it'll be mostly free-form.

Sounds cool, I'm always up for a virtual vampire hunt. I've never played the game, should I read some of the lore first?

Yeah, you could read up a bit, but I'd say that it's pretty simple, myself. I've basically given an outline of the important bits here. However, there is the fact that the Belmont Clan, holders of the Vampire Killer whip, disappeared from the late 18th century until the war. So, yeah, we're going to have to find a way to bring the Belmonts out of hiding.
