An Introduction
To our esteemed partners and allies abroad,
Thank you for taking the time to read and promulgate this edition of the Royal Messenger of the United Kingdom! A lot of effort goes into making this region something to be proud of, from His Majesty the King, who dedicates untold hours to ensuring the region stays functioning and all people are welcome, safe, and comfortable; to the successive executive governments and parliaments which legislate and govern the region proper; to our courts, which enforce our laws and constitution for the good of all the members of our region; to the business owners and homeowners who give our citizens places to go and things to do; to you, our friends abroad who make NationStates a place worth being! Aside from just introducing myself and this edition of the Royal Messenger, I want to take the time during this Holiday Season to wish the best and the brightest for each of you, your families, your friends, and your regions as a whole! Our region is a place to behold, and I am proud to submit to you a record of the recent activities of those people who make this region a place we are all proud to call home. So, without further ado, let the reading begin! Curl up somewhere warm, with a hot holiday beverage (my personal favorite: hot chocolate!) and dive right in! See you on the other side! Rt. Hon. Elisha Menzies, MBE
A New Parliament and a New Government!
Recently, we in NSUK have just completed our November General Election! The Foreign Office, at that time, released a press statement distributed to our embassies which detailed the new government and the new parliamentary lineup; and while, because of that, I won’t reiterate that a second time in exceptional detail, here is the list of new officials and their positions:
- Akillian Talleyrand, Prime Minister - Owen Stewart, Deputy Prime Minister - Jacob H. Mikaelson, Home Secretary - Elisha Menzies, Foreign Secretary - Samantha Cahill-Mountbatten, Chancellor of the Exchequer - Cody R. Cavendish-Beauclerk, Culture, Media & Sport Secretary - Akillian Talleyrand, MP from Edinburgh East - Klaus Mikaelson, MP from Inverness - Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim, MP from Islwyn (Speaker of the Commons) - Gloriana Windsor, MP from Brighton - Jacob Mikaelson, MP for Blackpool We of course congratulate all the elected and appointed officials who govern our region this cycle!
Christmas Comes to Town!
NSUK is bracing for the Christmas Season! Snow is falling across NSUK, and from the looks of things, Santa is prepping for the big day! Under the cover of darkness one evening, he apparently set up an entire village market! Complete with an Elf Station, the Santa Clause Village, and the Snowcastle, the Man in Red and his jolly elves have declared a season of festivity and cheer inside NSUK! But the season is open for all of our friends and colleagues around the world too! Stop by and visit before Saint Nicholas and companions fly back North! And as always, we wish all of our friends abroad the very merriest Christmas, the happiest of Holidays, and a Happy New Year!
What’s Up in the Government? I want to end the article portion of this edition with a brief overview of parliamentary, executive, and judiciary happenings! In Parliament, we have seen a slew of bills introduced and discussed: these include the Roleplay Coordinator Act of 2023, the Candidate Registration Taxation Act of 2023, the Creation of the UK Stock Market Act of 2023, and the CA Business Amendments Act of 2023, in addition to the election of the Speaker of the Commons and reconfirmation hearings of a Court Judge. In the Executive Government, we have seen all departments (Home, Foreign, Culture, Exchequer) firing on all cylinders! The new Cabinet dove right in to their duties and have been ensuring an active and productive region! The Home Office has completed the November rendition of Citizen of the Month, which was won by Cody R. Cavendish-Beauclerk, and we offer him a hearty congratulations! The Home Office has also been approving citizenship requests, and has announced the King himself will be hosting citizenship ceremonies every first and fourteenth day of each month! What a wonderful way to welcome new citizens! The Foreign Office has dispatched the press release on the General Election and is producing the Royal Messenger editions, as well as keeping tabs on the goings on of the international NationStates community. Our friendly ambassadors should be passing this edition of the Royal Messenger to our friends abroad very soon! The Culture Office is planning to host in the close future a Battle of the Bands competition, along with a new comedy club! Check in soon for more info! We have had a few court cases come before our esteemed justices the last month or so. Our justices have enjoyed enough casework to keep them busy, but not too much to be considered tedious! These are the highlights! We continue, as always, to wish our public servants the best of luck! - Santa Clause is coming to town! - Holiday Market open for business! - New Parliament and Executive Government up and running! - November General Election has concluded! Good luck to all appointed and elected officials! - We wish a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year to all our friends abroad! See you next year! Thank you for reading! |
