There seem to be so many options out there nowadays...what does everyone use?

Most of my online chats are on IRC now, and I use mIRC for them. It's not the prettiest interface, but it's reliable and has plenty of options. I also have Trillian for AIM, MSN, and Facebook Chat, though I don't use it as often as I used to...for many years almost all of my friends were on one of those networks, but now I only have a few people there and I hardly talk on it. I have Skype, but using it is even more rare...usually when someone wants to voicechat. I technically have Steam as well, but I don't think most people use it to chat...I almost never use it.

 You humans grasp at communication somewhat astounds me: Skype, Facebook, Chatzy, IRC's, Google+

I use... Skype, HydraIRC, Steam, Facebook, a couple of people who I only talk to on the League of Legends launcher, people who I only talk to inside of Hawken, bunch a forums, I do a lot of emailing, teamspeak, raidcall, aaaaand some people who I exclusively talk to on Minecraft.

@Reon - You do a lot of emailing? That seems a bit archaic, doesn't it?

@Golden - Out of curiosity, how much do you use Facebook vs. Google+?

I definitely use facebook more, since most of my friends/family are on that...however I am slowly integrating into Google +, as it is very versatile and compatible.

I just dumped like 2/3 of my Facebook "friends" today...mostly family, co-workers, and people from high school I don't interact with. I'd like to get back on the social networking thing, but I don't really like Facebook...but like you, that's still where most of my friends are.

Facebook for school friends; IRC for Wintreath; email for stuffs, mainly files and newsletters; occassionally Steam chat, and the rare Skype call

Facebook, Snapchat, Kik and IRC.

I have no fb, because I see it as intrusive malware, and a dormant g+ account.
Really, I only use e-mail, same hotmail account since 2002.

Facebook and Skype

Mostly Facebook, Google Talk (or Hangouts or whatever it's called now) occasionally and IRC even more occasionally. Back in the day I've used ICQ and MSN Messenger, which was huge here in Brazil, but ever since it's been substituted by Skype its usage dwindled and me myself only use it for the eventual videochat with friends abroad.

I also use Whatsapp for communication a lot, although it's not necessarily 'online' like the aforementioned options, hehe.

I remember when ICQ was big in middle school, but I didn't have any interest in online chat at the time so I was never involved with it.

I find it interesting that Facebook is near-universal, even though most people don't really care for it or are involved with it...at least the people I have talked to about it, lol.

And Charax, Snapchat is a buggy, insecure piece of shit that the company seems to refuse to fix. A number of phone numbers and usernames were leaked earlier this year, and multiple articles have painted the development team as people who are lax on security and don't respond to bug reports until they're made public. Definitely troubling given Snapchat's supposed focus on privacy.

Eh, I use mostly texting on my Iphone, Imessage. A lot of Twitter, I have an Instagram, but I rarely post, i think in two years, ive culminated like maybe 80 posts, its really there so I can say I have one, and keep up with my friends. Facebook was big in Middle school for me, but not really cool anymore, I have to clear out all my "friends". Kik occasionally. I use IRC for wintreath and a personal chat with a few of my friends in other countries so we dont get outrageous messaging bills. I have a Kindle Fire (dont buy those if reading is what you want to do 100% of the time) so I have a crude texting app on there. Google+, but only so it leaves me the hell alone. thats about it.

I honestly do not use any social networking sites except for MS Skype. Besides that... I do absolutely nothing about my internet "social" life.

I use Facebook, twitter, and skype from time to time, but i'd rather not go to those platforms nowadays. I use viber when needed to communicate with family, and when my whatsapp expired, i used telegram to talk to my friends out of the country.
