The Purchase of SvenskanaOn May 3rd, a trade deal was signed by
Sakiria and
Svipjoth, pertaining to the formerly Sakirian island of Svenskana. This trade deal was initiated by Svipjoth after widespread tension grew over claim rights over the islands, as it is culturally significant to Svipjoth; this island is believed to be the resting place of Sven Magogrsson, grandson of Joth, great-grandson of Noa, and originator of Western Svipish culture. Legend foretold that in his last days, Sven sailed over 100 nautical miles away from shore to die at this island alone, so that his brothers do not defile his body, let alone where it is. Legend also states that when Svipjoth is in it's greatest peril, Sven will resurrect and return to Western Svipjoth protect his ancestral territory.
To many Svips, this legend was worth acquiring the island, despite its size and relative barren landscape. Fylkir Pjotur II Arngrimsson, in his wisdom, reflected the will of his people and send forward to King Charles XIII of
Sakiria an offer of 500 million Pecunians and permission to keep all Sakirian trade activities active on the island, so long as a 2% trade tax was sent directly to
Svipjoth. With King Charles XIII's signature, Svenskana has returned to the Svipish people!
Fjalaegar: The 3rd Colony of SvipjothJust as the purchase of Svenskana was being negotiated, yet another island was conquered; this time Hanshedrik, from the nation of Skadiland. For many centuries, this island as remained under contest of claim rights by both nations, yet with the island being insignificant to both nations, an occasional replacements of flags and tribute of alcohol has sufficed. This diplomacy paused in the Isolationist Era and completely forgotten about, only to be discovered once more by the Svipish administration. It was decided, that in the greater interest of global Svipish influence, Hanshedrik would be taken once and for all. Mounting a battalion of soldiers, the Skadiland flag was burned and it's liquor smashed as the men and women of the battalion began work on a military base. With little consequence of Skadiland, Hanshedrik is officially conquered.
To manage these two new islands, as well as any other isolated, globally scattered islands, the third Svipish colony, Fjalaegar, has been ratified. Domaldi Pjotursson shall serve as Regent Colonial, in regency for Rognhildr Pjotursdottir.
Entrance of Henrik Svaenningsson into House KastenSince his election to Wintreath's Riksraad, Henrik Svaenningsson has engaged the regional sphere with equal passion and calculation, involving himself with the nations of Wintreath and elevating Svipjoth's legitimacy. In his most prestigious honor yet, he has been accepted into House Kasten, one of the various political houses of Wintreath. It is led by Patriarch Denth Edward Kasten of
Dawsinian and additionally includes Teth Ganderson Nicholas Kasten of
The Greenlandic North. With this acceptance, Henrik Svaenningsson has been rechristened to Henrik Svaenningsson Kasten.
