The new big food for me is Marmite. I'd heard of it before but never tried it (probably because people say Vegemite tastes gross, and I assumed they were the same, although I guess not). Anyway I gave it a try after listening to the podcast the Friendship Onion with Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd (Merry and Pippin from Lord of the Rings) where they reviewed it.
I'm really glad I tried it because it's fantastic. It's sorta hard to describe the taste, but it has a savory, salty, soy saucey flavor. It's very powerful, so I don't put a whole lot on my toast. I especially like to eat it on a sandwich with toasted pumpernickel bread, butter, sharp cheddar, and arugula with salt and vinegar chips on the side. My wife and I have eaten a couple sandwiches a week over the past month or so because we like it so much.
Very much recommend picking up at least a tiny bottle at your local international food store if you're in the US and giving it a try
