With Bernie Sanders, the success of Affordable Care Act, and recent large COVID-related programs, you would think that socialism would be more popular. However,
Gallup polling shows that Americans' views of capitalism and socialism are virtually unchanged from 2010, with 60% of Americans feeling positive about capitalism and 38% feeling positive about socialism.
In fact, the only changes at all was a dip in support for
big businesses, driven mostly by drops in support from Republicans (from 72% in 2019 to 56% in 2021). Given how quick the change is, I wonder if the drop in support has more to do with perceived biases in big tech and corporate vaccine/mask mandates than with how big businesses actually function. On the other hand, virtually everyone (97%) feels positive about small businesses.
Any thoughts on this one?
