The Power of Recruitment

One of the links below in this edition is an animated leaderboard of non-feeder regions from 2012 to the present. It shows that for most of the last 7 years, we've been one of the largest user-created regions in NationStates. However, it also shows that we've had difficulty keeping up in recent times as the competition to attract nations is fiercer than ever. Why is that? What makes a large region?

Half the answer is integration, or getting new people involved in the community and the things we do. As I said last week it's an area we've neglected for years and it's something I want to work on this summer. The other half is recruitment, or getting new nations to the region to start with, and that's what I wanted to write about now because it's so easy for anybody to do. Just get added to the recruiter list, set up a telegram template, and use our tool to find nations to send it to. We have an excellent guide that will get you set up and ready to send your first telegram. Once you're set up, you can use any amount of time you want to recruit, whether it's 5 minutes or an hour.

It's such a big help to the region, because it's literally how the vast majority of people discover Wintreath. If you're in Wintreath right now, chances are it's probably because you got a recruitment telegram and wanted to join us. That's why I personally aim to recruit to 200 nations a day. I don't expect anybody else to recruit that much, but never underestimate the power of many people just doing a bit. 10 people recruiting to 30 nations a day is 300, which would more than double what we're doing right now. Who knows? The person you recruit could be a future friend or leader in any part of Wintreath! At the very least, it translates to a larger and more prosperous region.

What’s Happening Now
Summer 2021 Citizen Survey
We want to hear from our Citizens! The survey asks about your feelings about Wintreath, the areas of the community you're a part of, and what changes you'd like to see. The survey runs until Wednesday, June 30th, and you can send it to me via forum PM, Discord DM, or NS Telegram! I will summarize the responses after the survey closes, but your individual answers will remain private with me.

Which Wintermoot-hosted forum game would you like to play in?
Wintermoot is interested in developing and running a forum game in the future: either Arena, Mage Wars, or Clickwar. Which game would you like to play in? Check out the topic for a description of each game and to vote! The poll will run until Thursday, July 1st and the game will run sometime later this  summer.

Arena Game 8 Starts!
Speaking of Arena, a new game of Arena hosted by @taulover started this week, featuring @Gerrick, @Imaginative Kane, @TGN, and Wintermoot! So far the game has been lively with a lot of action, so be sure to read through everything that's happened, see how Arena is played, and check out taulover's awesome game map!

With this, we know what's working for the community and who should be recognized for their efforts or participation in the region (even players in games are mentioned!). Feel free to check it out and see what's gone on so far this summer.

NationStates member IKTeam created an animated graph of non-feeder regions with the most nations from 2012 to the present, and Wintreath is on there for a good portion of the video! Watch our rise in October 2013 and how we've stood the test of time compared to other regions. Want to keep us growing? See my word about recruitment above!

Foreign Affairs News
Our new Jarl of Foreign Affairs @Ruguo visited the Discords of our partner regions and sent out a survey to see where we stood with them. The response has been positive and many of our partner regions want a new regional update from us (our last one was in November), which is one of the next things the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be working on. The Ministry will also be looking for people that want to be an ambassador to one of our partner regions, so if you're interested stay tuned for news about that very soon!
