Hello everyone, as most of you know, my name is Excalibur, and I am back from a short hiatus to be your Thane of Roleplay for the next several months. I don't have a lot of neat tricks or funny gimmicks besides the Schwarzenegger clip this time, but what I do have are a list of defined, approachable goals that I can accomplish in the coming term, something that I know is different from my previous terms as Thane of Roleplay. For those of you who trusted me enough in the past to be Thane of Roleplay, I hope you can trust me now to help revitalize the RP culture of Wintreath once again.
1) Why are you running for this position?I am running for this position because roleplay, especially RPGs such as D&D, SWRPG, and others, are a real passion of mine and have opened a lot of doors to me that would previously have been closed. For example, I've greatly increased my online social skills when interacting with others, I've been able to better communicate both online and IRL, I have been able to expand my vocabulary and better my grammar, and most of all it has provided me with a creative outlet to create fun, engaging narratives with other passionate RPers.
2) What do you aim to accomplish as thane? As part of this, you must include at least one thing that you promise to do beyond the minimum listed duties of the position during your term. It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected. In the past, I have provided vague goals that many times I have been unable to measure at the end of my term. However, instead of sweeping changes, I'm going to enact a series of smaller changes that, I hope, will help increase interest in roleplay in the region.
First off, with regards to ARTS:
- I plan to restart the three current ARTS classes and finish out their course, so I can definitively prove that the ARTS program is a proven way to introduce people to RP
- Finish fleshing out the curriculum for ARTS. The last things that need to be aded to the Snowflake classes are how to end, restart, and politely nudge your fellow RPers when an RP has gone inactive
- Roll the current Snowflake class curriculum into a sped up version for Flurry level, and begin the worldbuiliding section of the course (Hold out a little longer AJ! We'll get Blizzard started soon)
- Bring on new mentors to spread the load from me and Silv. I currently have two people in mind to assist, so if I shoot you a DM if I get elected, don't be alarmed!
- Move ARTS to be weekly installments. No more indeterminable waiting for everyone to finish. Regardless of who's done it or who has not, the next week brings new material.
Next, forum RP:
- I plan to make weekly OTPYGIW posts to help give more flavor to the world Weiss has built in the hopes that we can start a forum RP in that world, which leads me to my next point
- Start a series of short, directed RPs set in the Wintrean universe with recurring characters, to minimize burnout and increase activity. This will also bring the Familial Houses to center stage and give them a use besides bickering about who's the best.
Which is, from an unbiased perspective, obviously Hawkstar - Work with Weiss, Lau, Doc, and other Wintrean worldbuilders to expand and refine the current lore.
Discord RP:
- Restart my own Wintrean D&D group
- Help the Starfinder group get off the ground
RMB:
- Assist Silv and Doc with their RMB RP and moderate the people who decide to join
2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the September election? If not, why didn't you?Once I would have had to answer this, but not this time!
3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?I've been an extensive RPer through a number of mediums for several years, and have also been (IIRC) the Thane of Roleplay that has served the most consecutive terms in Wintreath
4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election in June?Quite simple, really. Every week I'm going to set aside time to work on the goals I listed above, until I've finished everything, and then I'll figure out what else I need to do from there. There's always more to do, after all.
5) Are you currently a part of any other NationStates regional or organizational government? If so, please include those regions and positions.Nope
Thank you very much for taking the time to read through my campaign! I hope this has satisfactorily answered the Monarch's questions. If you have any additional queries, feel free to ask below, and don't forget to vote on March 1st!
