You know I love sites that visualize things, so when I ran into this site that displays the number 1 song throughout the world on a map, I had to share it. It's based on Youtube views in 3,000 cities, and is color-coded by song...you can also click a song or an area to watch it on...where else, Youtube. Currently you can select three months to view: February 2021 (last month), January 2018, and June 2018.

On a personal level, it was pretty neat seeing how musical taste tends to break down by language...obviously most people prefer music in their native language. That's not always the case though, and it's also interesting to see how what's popular in America can also be popular elsewhere, especially Australia and Europe.
