Jarl of Foreign Affairs: Ruguo
Thane of Embassies: None
So you're wanting to be an ambassador, excellent! I cannot stress how wonderful being an ambassador is, and it's a great way to get more involved when you're just starting out. As an ambassador, you represent the region to both older embassy regions as well as new arrivals, so in ways it's really quite an honor to be accepted into the fold.
What is an Ambassador? An ambassador is someone that we send to a region chosen by them from the current available list. They're responsible for keeping their chosen embassy region updated with the latest dispatches from the Orendi (our regional publication) as well as other snippets that we request be sent out to other regions such as invites to regional games, puzzles, and other materials we may need to send out.
While it's not required, it's also highly recommended for ambassadors to get more involved and get to know the people in their chosen embassy region. Participating in discussions, playing their games, and overall just making friends and strengthening those bonds, while at the same time looking for opportunities where our two regions can become even better friends.
What do I need to do to become an ambassador?Thankfully, requirements to become an ambassador are very simple. To apply, you simply need to be a citizen for longer than
17 days, and need to have over
35 posts that aren't spam, or
70 discord posts that aren't considered spam. If you meet these requirements, just keep in the lookout in this thread for open positions, and simply state your desire! If the area hasn't already been promised (since it's a first come, first serve basis), then you'll be given it if you meet the above requirements.
What are the different titles?- Ombud: If you're unsure at first of being an ambassador and want to get a feel for it, you can shadow a current ambassador and get an idea of things. If you don't meet the current requirements to apply for ambassadorship, this is also available as an option while you work to meet them!
- Heralder:: This is considered the starting rank of Ambassadorship. Once you apply and are successfully given a region, this will be your starting rank.
- Stortheralder: This is an honorary rank for being an ambassador consecutively for 9 months in the same region. In this rank, you'll automatically be given 2 points toward the Monarch's game bag, and will be given 2 automatically for every 9 months afterward that you're active in your assigned region.
- Ansvarer: this is the highest Ambassador rank, which can be achieved at any point for exhibiting true passion for their work as Ambassador, exhibiting behavior towards achieving the central goal that goes above and beyond their required duties. 2 points towards the Monarch’s Game bag will be automatically allotted and can be achieved one time only. Must serve as ambassador for 6 months or more.
What happens if I leave my assigned region? If you hold Heralder status, you'll lose your status and it'll be assumed that you've decided not to be an ambassador. Simply just seek out another region in our open relations list and state your desire to be an ambassador again in this thread, and you'll be added back onto the list.
If you hold Stortheralder status and switch/leave your assigned region(s), you'll lose Stortheralder status and revert back to Heralder status. However, as we understand that it's not your fault that sometimes relations with other regions will dissolve...there's a bit of wiggle room. If you're a Stortheralder holder in a region that we've decided to dissolve for whatever reason, you'll be given the option of a new region immediately from our open list, if there are currently any available. As long as you choose, are accepted, and move into their forums/discord/region within 48 hours of being given your new options, you'll retain your Stortheralder status.
This does not apply to those who voluntarily leave regions. As mentioned above, if you voluntarily leave your region on your own and switch regions, you will lose Stortheralder status. Can I hold multiple positions? While it's normally recommended to let other members take different spots, we do also realize that interest in being an Ambassador can be pretty low at times...so we won't deny members who want an extra spot.
If I'm chosen to be an Ambassador, what are the expectations?Ambassadors are expected to post every dispatch to their chosen region within
7 days of them being posted in
here. We ask that you make the post in the RMB, as well as in the correct areas of their forum (if applicable) and Discord (if applicable), wherever regions have their foreign relations post embassy updates.
Ambassadorship works on a 3-strike system since we understand that sometimes things get overwhelming, and people can sometimes just forget to post. But for every missed dispatch, you'll get a strike. If you get 3 strikes, it'll be assumed that you're not serious about wanting to be an ambassador, and you'll be removed from the list while your regions will be re-assigned to somebody else. Strikes aren't permanent, however, and a strike will be removed so long as you stay on top of posting 2 dispatches in a timely manner to your chosen region, consecutively (so post the next one, and then the one after that, and your strike will be removed).
Exceptions to the strike rule are if you've posted in the
Absense thread and given heads up that you won't be around, since real life will always be absolutely much more of a priority, and we're not going to ding you if real life events are taking you away from the computer.
As mentioned earlier in the "What is an Ambassador" section, it's also highly,
highly recommended to the point of almost being required that you participate in your chosen region. Post an introduction about yourself, get to know the people there, and be active there so that people can really get to know you. Regions tend to not care for the ambassadors that just pop in to post a dispatch and then disappear, so don't be that person. Interaction can be on their discord, forums, RMB, or a combination of the three...whatever is available. Just put yourself out there and be more than the typical lurker that posts occasional updates.
Are there currently any openings?Short answer is usually: Yes! There are definitely openings. Currently we have 1 region that needs an ambassador, and at the same time I'm more than happy to donate any of my current regions to anyone who wants them. To give a better idea of where we stand, here's our list of current relations:
And to give an idea of our current list, here's all of Wintreath's current ambassadors:
If you see anything in
Green that says "Vacant" in our list of regional allies for "Ambassador To," it's open game to claim. Likewise, any that are green that say "Michi" are temporarily being held by me, but are also open to claim.
