NEWS FROM THE REPUBLICNew Exhibits at the Castle MuseumThe Castle Museum has built new and exciting sections for visitors to enjoy. Minerals and animals from the 1.17 update are on display, including goats, axolotls, and a glow squid. The museum now also includes an anthropology section, with ancient artifacts, replicas of desert and jungle temples, and the Hall of the Fallen, which displays artifacts from server members who are no longer with us.
The upper floors of the museum now have a written guide to give visitors more information. Be sure to stop by and check it out!
Dedication of the GolememorialThis year, Ponderosa Village built a memorial to commemorate the iron golems who gave their lives (and continue to do so) in the village iron factory. The poppies lovingly recovered from their incinerated corpses grow around a statue built across the river from the village of Jasper. The poppies have become so numerous that the city government is considering selling the surplus poppies in the local flower shop.
"I suppose we could just shut down the iron farm," said a spokesperson for the Co-Op, "but then we would have less iron."
Commercial District opens for businessThe Ponderosa Village Commercial District began operation this year. The General Store, which is mostly self-serve, offers a variety of products, including farmed items, music discs, and manufactured goods. The Pet Store is open only when the owner is available, and offers fish, cats, axolotls, turtles, mooshrooms, horses, goats, and pandas. The Villager trading hall is open only to citizens of the Republic.
The Commercial District is able to cater to customers around the world with its well-developed infrastructure, including connections to both the Ponderosa elevated rail and subway systems, along with the new Port of Ponderosa, which provides river access to the great oceans of the world.
Retail and office space is available for rent in the commercial district.
The Co-Op is looking for customer feedback. What items would you like to see stocked in the General Store? Please leave a comment down below and we will do our best provide those items.Ground breaks on Ponderosa AcademyThis week, construction began on the long-planned Ponderosa Academy, an institution of higher learning that will provide advanced degrees to residents of the Wintreath server. The main building is about halfway complete, with plans for a dormitory and student life building in the works. In addition, the city has gifted the existing library and mapparium to the Academy Foundation. These two buildings will incorporate seamlessly into the planned campus, just outside the agricultural district. Curricula in world history, navigation, and botany are being actively developed. The Ponderosa Academy board seeks to hire professors to teach additional courses, including redstone, combat, and flight. A full list of degrees has not yet been fully developed.
Citizens of Wintreath shall each be entitled to free instruction in one field, while additional classes and degrees will be provided for a cost. Citizens of the Ponderosa Republic will not have to pay for additional courses. Diplomas will be awarded in the form of a signed book, so as to prevent counterfeiting.
From all of us at Ponderosa Co-Op, thank you for visiting!
