  • This month Humble Monthly became Humble Choice, a revamped bundle package that is much more expensive for those who aren't grandfathered in at the Humble Monthly rate, but lets you view all the games and pick as many as your package allows instead of keeping the mystery box model. This is basically an upgrade for Humble Monthly subscribers, and a more expensive package for everyone else.

But the new model also allows us to talk about the games while they're still being offered, and thus this poll is born! Which games sound interesting enough that you'd want to at least try? I'm including some links here:

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Note, this is the standard edition, not the definitive edition.
    Blasphemous
    Ancestor's Legacy
    Phantom Doctrine
    Dead in Vinland
    Horizon Chase Turbo
    Dark Future: Blood Red States
    Desert Child
    Aegis Defenders
    X-Morph Defense

  • I'd say Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Blasphemous are the most interesting choices on that list.  SotTR overall is a pretty well made ending game to the new trilogy.  And before you ask, you're not missing much with the standard edition.  Unlike RotTR, SotTR's extra content consists purely of extra challenge tombs.  There's really no added story that you'll miss by overlooking it.  But visually it's a gorgeous game, and I highly recommend playing it if you played and enjoyed the first two of the reboot trilogy.

Likewise, as a 2D platformer Blasphemous is gory fun.  It's a Castlevania styled sidescroller with Dark Souls difficulty, and some character tweaking mixed in.  It doesn't skimp on the violence despite the intentional choice for a more pixel light graphics style.  I'd also definitely recommend this title.

  • For me the games I'm most interested in are Ancestor's Legacy, Dead in Vinland, and X-Morph Defense. But on the other hand, and also not sure if I'll just pause the subscription and save the $12.

On one hand, Ancestor's Legacy looks amazing, I love that it's based on history, and it looks pretty epic...but on the other hand, it looks a lot like a Total War game, and how many of those do I have in my Steam library that I've barely played? I love tower defense games, and X-Morph just that, wrapped into an interesting story about leading an alien invasion, plus having your own unit that functions as a top-down shooter is intriguing...but as recently as last month it was just $4.50, and I typically only play the free tower defense games.

To me, Dead in Vinland is probably the most exciting game offered in the bundle, and if I don't pause the subscription this will be why. It combines RPG and survival, but it feels like they've really simplified the interfaces and instead focused their development on allowing a breadth in both areas, unlike many other games that try to do this. It looks like a fully functional survival game and a fully functional RPG, either of which could stand on its own...but they're together. ^-^
