This act mainly sets forth some Symbols and also officials defines a flag and a code, I do plan for this act to cover other things as well (other symbols and seals of the region), but we don't have many of those right now.

I’m reintroducing this act to the Underhusen for consideration, in light of Gerrick’s announcement of the official regional animal as decided by the people of Wintreath. Additionally, I made quite a few of my edits to this legislation.

Okay, NOW it's appropriate to ping the Overhusen :P

  • I am actually highly against the codification of the colors as specific hex codes, at least for the law. No country (or region AFAIK) actually marks the specific hex codes because they might change the colors slightly over time for one reason or another.

We also don't need to specify the exact shades because we HAVE examples of the flag and colors to use, and Wintermoot generally sets the exact shades and colors regardless, which allows for some flexibility.

I oppose this act as it stands with the modifications on colors

  • As I said on Discord, I personally don't see anything wrong or controversial with the Storting setting symbols. It doesn't require people to use those symbols, it just states that they are regional symbols.

I think what may be more problematic are the provisions about the flag. Does the Storting have the right to set the flag and actually demand its use? The current flag was adopted during the brief period before the Fundamental Laws was adopted when the Founder held all power, and the issue has never came up since. Also, does the Storting have the right to demand that future vassals in particular fly the Wintreath flag? Vassals are technically Wintrean territories but have certain rights to self-governance as established by treaty. I'm personally uncertain on these issues, but don't feel that territories outside Wintreath should be compelled to use our flag if their communities don't want to.

As I said in the discord, perhaps we could change the wording so that it is recommended that vassal regions adopt it, and then mandate how they are to adopt it should they choose to do so.

  • The only issue I see happening with this, would be that if we want to do an overhaul of the look that Wintreath has for whatever reason, this could allow someone Chanku to rules lawyer and be like, we have to pass a law first. But I honestly doubt he or anyone would bother.

We don't need official legislation for this stuff, but I see the fun side of having it listed as official.
Remember, there is no reason to panic, nothing is on fire.

  • Based on the prior discussion I'm making the following change, with removed portions in strikeout and new portions underlined.

Section 6 is changed to read:
    Quote
    6. It is recommended that the Flag of Wintreath (or a flag using the Flag of Wintreath as its Canton) must be flown above territories of Wintreath. This does not apply ex post facto.

Is there any additional discussion on this? Anybody in the Overhusen that's on the fence or in the nay camp due to something in the bill?
