  • It might be good to type a more detailed explanation for how the game Arena can work.  If anyone else wants to contribute to this explanation please do because I know I will miss stuff.

Arena is a game that Gerrick introduced which appears to blend together elements of Dungeons & Dragons, role playing games, and games like Magic the Gathering.  Players may get to choose their class or character or it is assigned.  The regular classes in Arena include common Dungeons and Dragons roles like Barbarian, Bard, Rogue, and Cleric and also more rare roles like the Mystic and Commander.  The games are generally either teams or free for all although there could probably be free for all in a player vs monster setting (that would be chaotic :P).

All of the players have a set amount of health to start off with and if they lose that health than they are out of the game unless they are brought back to life by someone with that ability.  Each turn, each player makes their moves.  The actions can be changing the stance between offensive and defensive; deciding whether to attack, block, or use a special ability; and using a potion.  If no action is chosen when you can make a move, inactivity damage will happen.  The damage dealt by inactivity and attacks in the game is mostly determined by dice rolls.

This is a turn based game.  Each turn players have actions that can be performed, generally a potion action can be chosen with the attack/block/special action along with the stance selection.  The actions are generally performed in the order that the players are listed for that turn.  The orders are generally determined by dice rolls so one turn a player can go first but another turn they might end up last and be continuing to go last if the dice rolls end up being unfavorable like that for multiple turns in a row (pretty sure that has happened before).  If it is a team game then the turns might still be determined by dice roll or the teams may decide the order of their actions, it depends on the host and the game.
