There's a lot that I love about my role in the region...meeting and making friends with awesome people, developing cool new things for our community, and growing a community that I'm proud of based on principles that I believe in. And I am very proud of our community. But today I had to engage a part of my role that I absolutely don't love: banning a prominent member of our community.
Earlier today, Clytirrisia informed me that he has been hiding a previous NationStates identity,
Saradania, that had been extensively banned in other regions for allegations of OOC misconduct. Furthermore, he admitted that those allegations were true, and that he had knowingly engaged in explicit erotic roleplay with a minor. He stated that he had made a mistake in doing so, and had wanted a fresh start in NS, but that his past had caught up to him and someone else had apparently discovered his identity, which is why he only admitted to these things now.
While he was in Wintreath, Cly has been a model member of our community, a knowledgeable voice in our Cabinet, and a friend to many of us. He has not done anything improper in Wintreath or elsewhere during his time in Wintreath that I am aware of, and for those reasons this was not a ban I took pleasure in conducting. Furthermore, please believe me when I say the idea of administratively banning a Citizen is never taken lightly...in fact this is only the second time it has been done in our nearly six years of existence. However, his admissions made any other course of action impossible. He admitted to engaging in something he himself described as sinister, then hid it from this community the entire time that he was here. For those reasons, the Wintreath administration team judged this ban to be necessary and required.
