  • Hello everyone! This is a longer work of poetry I'm working on(Possibly even epic poetry) that I hope you guys will enjoy! If you've read all the lore on Mithra you should be familiar with the Bothnian's if not, then simply know that this is meant to be a foundational story of their culture, a culture that should make itself clear line by line.
    Without further ado, the Proem!

    Proem

Let my heart soon know the singing
Give my brow the right to know
Let me know the truth unfolding
Let it sing through word and tone
    Tapyo blow your horn unceasing
    Entertainer’s friend and foe
Through your will and that of Ukon
We shall let the past unfold

Tell us of it bloodied Tapyo
While the mead still freely flows
    Blow your horn, still unceasing
While the fire still brightly glows
Let us know the past’s great stories
And show us now the truth alone

I am ready to hear the story
My heart is filled with it alone
Now my mouth can be opened
And show us the road to go
Now my tongue is ever ready
To give the wisdom of long ago

Come now brothers and hear the story
Gather ‘round and you will know
    Of the primeval triumphs, glories
And of failures long since sown
    Listen brothers, Ukon’s faithful
Who spill blood for glory’s throne
    Listen now of Tapyo’s song
    Words of wisdom now bestowed

    Let us know of Ukonusko
His rage and need for blood alone
    Why he once used Tuohnela
To sunder earth with one great blow
Let us hear of Marjatt’s plotting
    To deny Ukon’s rightful toll
    Born of Ahka’s evil lusting
Her weakness for loins not her own
Speak to us of Marjatt’s father
Louhee, scum and slave of Him
When he once ruled his own palace
And sought to challenge Ukon’s whims
Let us hear of war unceasing
When all the world sought Ukon’s gift
When He felt the need to punish
    Louhee’s trangression against Him
Let us hear of Sanpo’s shrieking
When it was Louhee’s sword and shield
And how Ukon went and seized it
And used to take hold of him

Tell us now of this Tapyo
And hear it until mead runs dry
Or your song is finished peeking
Through the heavens and to our minds

  • Well, I've had this sitting around forever. So if you people are still interested, here's Part 1 of this never to be completed epic xD

    Spoiler
Rune 1 The Birth of Marjatt

    Ahka, Ukonusko’s bride
Knelt in strands of downy pine
Soft, compared to pain she felt
Although the snow lay round about
    There she layed, crying out
There she paid the womans price
Five days she had laboured, thrice
Had babe of hers peaked its head
    Only to return once again
To her womb and from thence
Force her to try once again.
    This time, fourth she finally
    Managed to from herself free
The babe she had in lust conceived
With the god of elves, Louhee
Yet her labour was not done
This babe was hers and she must
Protect him though it would not
Please her husband or his wroth.

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
    Weeping at infernal tides
Those that fate had long bestowed
    Unto child, hers alone
Woe is Marjatt’s fate she cried
    Born, father cursed is thy
    Born of infidelity
Born four times before being free
Babe of magic are you clearly
And thou will never in life see
Peace or know the scent of spring
And the sense of peace that it brings
Your life will be of suffering
You will pay the price, dearly
Of my sins and for that I grieve
Your mother has herself cursed thee

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
Then now is forced to hide
The babe her arms now cradled still
    From her husband’s wrath, unfilled
    Come to me protecting waves
This she cries again in pain
Take from me this cursed babe
And keep him safe from Ukon’s rage
Let him know his damned name
    Marjatt, son of Louhee, bane
Of all that my dearest husband holds
Take him from my caring fold
    Into endless depths untold
See now spirits of the wave
That no harm may come his way
Even if Ukon commands thee, nay
Thou shall not give up my babe

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
Gave her child to the tide
    Gentle everflowing tide
Took the child to live and hide
    In its endless abode, free
From any threat that would see
    The child come to misery
Swore tide to Akha, Ukon’s bride.

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
    Commanded again flowing tide
    Gentle everflowing tide
Swear to me oh sea she said
    Never under circumstance
Give this child, though cursed he be
    To Ukonusko, king of kings
    Swore to Akha, Ukon’s bride
    Gentle everflowing tide
With all intent to hear her plea
    Stated to her calmingly
    That it never willingly
    Would yield Marjatt to misery
    That Ukonusko would provide
Should He ever lay his eyes
On the babe of cursed line
Swore tide to Akha, Ukon’s bride.

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
Then called to the ether, sky
To its children cloud and stars
And all the spirits ether now
Holds in its abode so sweet
Call she did on all of these
Rain and snow came to her call
    Then the winds, directions all
North wind first, a biting breeze
Then came south wind, scorching heat
West wind came in, slow and lazy
East wind last, calm and hazy
Then came golden moon, in daylight
Silver sun stood by the moonlight
Command did she, the queen of heavens
Swear to me oh beings ether
    Never under any weather
Give this child, though cursed he be
    To Ukonusko, king of kings
    Swore to Akha, Ukon’s bride
The feuding brood of Ether’s wives
With all intent to hear her plea
    Stated to her excitedly
    That they never willingly
    Would yield Marjatt to misery
    That Ukonusko would provide
Should He ever lay his eyes
On the babe of cursed line
Swore they to Akha, Ukon’s bride.

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
Then called to every bird and fly
Every gnat and deer were called
    Friendly raven, greedy dog
Every fish and thing that crawled
    Clumsy spider, stealthy frog
    Every horse in every barn
    Willing bull, stubborn hog
Came they all to Akhas call
Came all of them and more
    Every whale, that blessed kind
    Favourite of Her piercing eyes
Came every man and every child,
Young and old, good and vile
Came the dwarves from hallowed halls
For they knew their Queen’s great calls
    Only elves, their kind abhorrent
Refused to answer the summons, urgent
Yet Akha did not care either way
Ukon would not ask them anyway
There they gathered one and all
Having all have heard her call
And though they spoke with not one tone
    Their promise came as before
    That they never willingly
    Would yield Marjatt to misery
    That Ukonusko would provide
Should He ever lay his eyes
On the babe of cursed line
Swore they to Akha, Ukon’s bride.

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
Finally called to the earthen lives
To the spirits of the earth
Came they to her in much dearth
For they of all number the most
    Every river, steam and coast
    Every mountain top and plain
Came the forests and the rain
    Snows collective self around her
Grooms of Ethers most loved daughters
All the rocks and pebbles too
Every blade of grass took root
All the plants, all the lakes,
    Number they of earthen make
Bronze and iron heard her call
    Copper, tin, steel and all
All of these and more, they came
Heard her speak and once again
    Swore to Akha, Ukon’s bride
The endless spirits of earthen lives
With all intent to hear her plea
    Stated to her endlessly
    That they never willingly
    Would yield Marjatt to misery
    That Ukonusko would provide
Should He ever lay his eyes
On the babe of cursed line
Swore they to Akha, Ukon’s bride.

This was except for one plant, loyal
To her husbands work and toil
    It had witnessed everything
    Yet Akha had never seen
This plant watching her and her schemes
    Juniper was its holy name
And it was prepared to tell of the babe
Cursed it was, to its King

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
Thence from there went to the sky
    To meet with Ukonusko’s pride
That she had damaged with her lies

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
Was to bring to Him his prize
The child she bore of Louhee’s line
So that he may see it die

    Akha, Ukonusko’s bride
Brought no child to his side
Said that it was dead on birth
Such she said, was His harmful work
For when he threw her to the earth
    To give her distasteful birth
He had killed the child inside
    Already taken its young life
    Yet Ukonusko did not see
    How this could possibly be
For no corpse had she brought for him to see
And thus he was not deceived,
    By Akha, heavens faithless queen

  • In a stunning turn of events, this story might actually get finished, because I'm doing this for NaNoWriMo! During the month of November I plan to write 50,000 words of this, poetry and all. I plan to post what I've done every day here, with the goal of getting 1666 words down every day, or about the length of the entirety of what's written now! In the lead up I'll be editing what's already written to be more consistent and flow better, so you'll have a reason to read it again when I start it back up!
