  • The World God Only Knows (1st season) : 8/10. Started strong but lost some steam near the end. Some cute girls, some annoying ones. Will update once I finish the whole thing.

Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry : 7/10. Kind of derivative ecchi/romance with a bit of shounen thrown in. It had its moments, the concept was really cool, but I think it failed to deliver in the end as the plot became more and more predictable.

Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge : 9.5/10. Definitely my show of Spring 2016. Really nice aesthetics, very very pleasing to the eye. Characters are good, a MC I relate to only too well, surrealist humour that vibed really well with me. This show is also really calming, makes me feel as lazy as the MC, but it's great for these moments where life feels too hard or stressful. Even the opening theme is really well chosen and evokes lazy, blissful days. I'm sad I finished it, that's how good I thought it was.

Next : Boku no Hero Academia, finishing The World God Only Knows, moving on to Flying Witch

  • So, is it worth continuing to write this? Is anyone reading this or caring about what some random Canadian twat thinks about anime?

  • It's up to you Seroim :P

In any case if you want a funny and adorable anime, Acchi Kocchi is amazing! I love it...

Also No Game No Life is awesome as well...

and if you like a bit of mystery and stuff Higurashi: When they cry is a decent anime (Note that the dub's VA is bad at first, but it DOES get better...for dub lovers they only did the first season of this anime and have yet to dub the rest.)

    Edit:
Also some more anime and a bit of thoughts on them. My thoughts are in spoilers, as they may contain something that will kill the experience for you.
    • Akame Ga Kill: Complete Dub: Yes; Complete Series: Yes
    Spoiler
It's really good at first, but the ending leaves a LOT to be desired and is very confusing. I'd read the Manga as it doesn't seem to have those issues
    • Dimension W: Complete Dub: Yes; Complete Series: Yes
    Spoiler
Cutesy anime that's rather short, but rather nice. It does have some mystery in it. I would also recommend picking up the manga as well
    • Srgt. Frog: Complete Dub: Yes; Complete Series: Yes (IIRC)
    Spoiler
I watched it a bit when I was younger, so I might be misremembering, but I do recall it was rather funny.
    • Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans: Complete Dub: No; Complete Series: No (Ongoing) (IIRC)
    Spoiler
A really nice anime. If you are in the US it comes on Toonami every night as well
    • Hunter x Hunter (2011): Complete Dub: no; Complete Series: Yes
    Spoiler
It's basically an updated form of Hunter x Hunter from the original 1999 series. It's pretty good actually.
    • Black Butler (Season 1): Complete Dub: Yes; Complete Series: Yes
    Spoiler
It's actually really good, and it's rather mysterious from time to time. It also has a bit of comedy as well.
    • FLCL: Complete Dub: Yes and no; Complete Series: Yes, and no (It completed it's first season in 2001, but Adult Swim and  Production I.G have gotten together to do two new seasons.)
    Spoiler
The first season is really good, It's also a rather short anime.
    • Blue Gender: Complete Dub: Yes; Complete Series: Yes
    Spoiler
Note I have not seen the entire series, I have seen the compilation move Blue Gender: The Warrior though. However the anime itself is really nice. See some thoughts on Blue Gender: The Warrior for more information
    • Blue Gender - The Warrior (Compilation Move): Complete Dub: Yes
    Spoiler
This movie is really great, to be honest. Although it does get slightly confusing later on, which might be due to it's nature (I would suggest watching the anime series first). Also apparently 1/3 of the series' final story arc was cut, meaning it apparently has a different ending, so keep that in mind if you have seen the anime, or watch the anime after this. Certain scenes were re-animated as well, so they might be a bit different.

  • I guess I took a detour.

Boku no Hero Academia : 6/10. I tend to dislike shounen anime but I always give them a try anyway. I don't know why. MC is a snivelling weakling 98% of the time and a self-sacrificing amazing bastard 2% of the time. Pretty formulaic as far as a shounen goes : MC starts weak, acquires power, learns to deal with power while surrounded by friends and the token jealous asshat while confronting evil.

One Punch Man : 8.5/10. Kind of like the above but this one has a twist, as the MC is already insanely powerful and jaded about the fact to boot. It's pretty funny to see him go from one ridiculous situation to another and solve it without even batting an eye.

Fate/zero (1st and 2nd season) : 8.5/10. I enjoyed this anime. Cool fight scenes, cool story, nice twist at the end (albeit predictable). Seiba is #1 waifu. Will continue on to fate/stay night.

Barakamon : 9/10. Surprisingly good. It's a nice little slice of life anime about a narcissistic calligrapher from Tokyo who moves to a backwater in order to find his own way in life, but who doesn't expect crazy and nosy villagers to butt in his life, and expects even less that he'll end up becoming attached to them. It doesn't sound like much but it's funny and yet touching in all the right proportions.

KonoSuba : 8/10. A twist on the "guy sent into RPG world" trope that's been popular lately. This one is more comedic/ecchi than stuff like Log Horizon or SAO, and I honestly think it fits the theme better.

  • It's me again.

Highschool DxD (1st, 2nd, 3rd seasons) : 8/10. Pretty good harem anime. Note that I usually don't like harem much. This is one that's less subtle than most : lots of tits everywhere, MC is an obvious lech, BUT the story is actually pretty decent and combined with the characters, it helps make this harem enjoyable. There are a few laughs here and there too.

Girls und Panzer : 8.5/10. This is a cute girls doing cute things anime...but with tanks included. High school girls compete in tank battles against the teams of various high schools. It makes no sense, but if you can suspend your disbelief you'll find this an enjoyable and heartwarming little show. Mako is best girl.

Addendum : "Seroim, why haven't you given a low score to any anime yet?"

Unlike with video games, I generally don't waste my time with shows I don't like from the get-go. There are shows I'd give a low score to, of course. A few notable ones would be Death Note, Sidonia no Kishi (2nd season), Psycho-Pass (2nd season), Nagi no Asukara, SAO (both seasons) and Log Horizon, almost every "shounen super filler" anime (like One Piece, Naruto, etc, I can't stand filler), Samurai Champloo (hated art and audio), etc. Plus since this is a thread for recommendations I thought I'd only post reviews of anime I enjoyed at least a bit (no lower than 5/10).
