  • Just to chime in administrative action, whether on the forum or on the IRC, is not bound to Wintrean Law...in fact that administration team can ban anyone they like without a trial as long as they believe that the action: " ...brings harm to the region or community."

The Administrative team is also not accountable to anyone as they can take such an action anytime as it supersedes the declaration of rights.
    See you later space cowboy.

  • Since the voting has started and nearly all candidates have participated in this debate I'll wrap things up here.

Big thanks to all candidates who took time off their schedules to make this happen!

I'll use this opportunity to reflect my intentions and own thoughts on the questions. At this point I would advice voters to dismiss any new participations.

With my approach I wanted to give the candidates questions separate from the most common and fairly vague questions of "what would you improve" etc. The problem with that traditional approach is that asking candidates who are running for another term for what they would do that they could be doing right now is, if you think about it, absurd. With our easily reachable and generally open Storting it's nearly equally absurd to have candidates specify what they would change when the change could easily be initiated without personally sitting in the UH. While I'm not an expert I think that very few particularly controversial issues are ever seen in the UH. Thereby it matters very little who you are if you have a valid proposal for the UH.

I was looking for open minds for Skrifas to see themselves as more than just Skrifas, especially now that Constitutional Convention is happening and the meaning of "Skrifa" may soon change. For the time being it is a highly visible position that at times seems underutilized so it stands to reason to look for other ways for them to interact with the community and even by artificial means search for rough edges that could be addressed. UH is the one part of our region that has the best visibility and manpower to do something like this and have it be meaningful effort regardless of what the outcome is. Knowing the community is the basis on which the rest of the legislating is built upon.

As the one part that directly falls under traditional UH territory taking control of the IRC channel left a lot to be desired. It is understandable that not all candidates even use it, and on this part we touch the cultural side of things again. While I enjoy the free and very smoothly working channel I feel like it's one of the gray areas of our community, which makes it worthwhile topic for electoral debate, while not necessarily practical issue to be actually tackled by the UH.

I apologize for the unintended toe stepping and underrating of the Ministry of Culture. You're obviously doing a great job and you were not my target with the debate.

The apology is unnecessary.  While the UH can't, or more appropriately shouldn't pass laws that infringe upon the various ministries, I think the question was still very valid.  Just because you're a Skrifa, Speaker, Peer, Chairman, or Jarl of Defense doesn't mean you should neglect being a part of the ministries in some form, whether that mean joining the monthly recruiting contests, taking part in operations, eagerly creating games or taking part in the cultural publication, becoming an ambassador, or the like.

Many people in a government position, particularly the Jarls (including myself) fall guilty of focusing specifically within the scope of what they're given and not exploring outside.  For the Jarls, it means we focus specifically on our own Ministry, and rarely step outside and take part in events/activities of the others.  For UH/OH officials, it means focusing on their jobs within their respective assemblies and, again, rarely stepping outside to engage in the activities/events of the ministries.

Your question is valid because just because there's a Ministry of Culture already doesn't mean that collaboration can't happen.  The UH and the Ministry could very well put their heads together to create laws concerning special days that we think should be celebrated, or even festivals that we believe Wintreath should hold annually, or anything of the like.  Just because there's a Riksrad and there's a Storting doesn't mean there has to be a distinct and complete disconnect between the two.
