So to me art is one of the biggest aspects of a nation or region's culture. It's one of the most personal and creative things that a person can express, and many times the result expressed is something quite beautiful and often times breathtaking. I myself delve into art occasionally (writing), and find it both relaxing and rewarding when I'm able to dive into it.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Wintreath has no art forum for people to share their more creative sides outside of roleplaying and games. If there's one thing I like to see, it's when people have a place to go to submit their work and get comments and critiques from fellow peers.
Granted, I understand posting such personal works can be scary for some people: some people may not like the idea of having their work critiqued by other people, and some might be afraid that nobody will like their work.
Well... as to the first part, I would promise this to anyone submitting work: All critiques would be constructive rather than destructive. Nobody likes someone coming in and completely tearing down their creation and offering no genuine care for the process the person went through. And with a community like Wintreath, I wouldn't foresee much, if any, destructive criticism at all.
For the second part, your art should be about your expression and showing your passion, not how others are going to view it. Those who submit their work would be welcomed with support from their fellow members, so there's nothing to be afraid of.
In any case, I really just wanted to throw this idea out there to people who would be interested. An art forum on Wintreath can't exist without enough interest in seeing it happen. Like I said, I think it's a huge part of our culture that should be explored as, like with games, art can be a big way to bring people together. So please take the time to either respond to this thread or vote in the poll, I really want to hear people's response to this idea.
Art in the forum would range from Screenplays to poetry, to writing/stories, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography and music. All art would essentially be welcome (within limits), those would just be the easiest for people to share with others.
If anyone has any questions, you're more than welcome to ask in this thread or send me a PM.
