3. Underhusen elections shall begin on the first day of the months of February, April, June, August, October, and December. Skrifa shall be elected by plurality vote. In the event of a tie between two or more candidates, a run-off vote shall be conducted to resolve the tie vote. If a vacancy occurs in the Underhusen, a special election to fill the vacancy shall be held within seven days of the vacancy being created unless there are fewer than twenty-one days remaining in the Underhusen's term.

Currently, Wintreath utilizes plurality voting through the first past the post scheme. I was curious if there was any interest in switching to proportional voting, perhaps through the alternative voting or single transferable vote scheme? Those systems are designed to be more proportional, would perhaps be more useful in elections which would otherwise have a lot of destinations, and eliminate the need for run-off votes.

It's mostly curiosity on my part at this point, but it seemed like an interesting discussion to have. We didn't really discuss different voting schemes during the Constitutional Convention.

STV is basically AV but for electing multiple people, so between those two, STV is the way to go.
It's definitely an interesting idea, and I'd be all for it.

Oh. According to my research STV had a formula for declaring how many votes one had to get while AV was just the majority. But these different systems are so confusing.

Basically in proportional voting, when you vote you order the candidates by preference. Then when the votes are counted, if your most preferred candidate has the least votes, they're removed from the race and your vote for second most preferred candidate is registered. This continues until you have your full slate of winners.

This is considered by some to be a superior system because it's more proportional. If your candidate loses, your vote doesn't stop counting, but gets transferred to your next preferred candidate.

It's also better because you can vote for someone who is going to very aggressively win *cough* Hugsim *cough* and not "waste" that vote. It means that smaller second choice parties or people have a higher chance of winning... Of course you're more likely to get stuck with very moderate parties or people because it's harder to get people to go with the extraordinarily out there groups but eh... Either way I am for STV... I actually really don't like first past the post voting.

I personally think we should do a bit more testing and playing around before we decide on anything.
