It would seem the Underhusen has decided to have one last legislation race before the end of the session. I personally can't believe the casualness with which this was expedited, despite it being a non-emergency item...far from it, in fact. The end of the session notwithstanding, a debate and a bit of thought behind this act would have probably been beneficial.
Before I start slamming this Act, I want to say that I have nothing against Horse...in fact I quite like him. I think he's trustworthy and a person of integrity who has stood up to friends he felt were doing wrong (ie. Spiritus-BI vote scandal), however I think this commendation is a bit premature for the following reasons.
Serving as Field Marshal of the Wintreath Hvitt Riddaral, almost single-handedly keeping it active.
Honestly, Karputsk of the FRA has probably led the Hvitt Riddaral most, along with most non-TITO defender forces. I have also personally led it for a few warzone operations, and a number of people have worked with the Hvitt Riddaral administratively, but I'm not aware of any instance where Horse 'almost single-handedly' kept it alive.
Serving as a member of the Underhusen and of the Riksråd
Horse was removed as Jarl of Integration back in January for inactivity at a time when he was also serving in multiple active roles in other regions, specifically Lazarus, The South Pacific, and Spiritus. Horse also failed to fulfill his obligations to our NS World Fair Committee, which he joined on a voluntary basis, because he was serving in similar committees for Lazarus and Spiritus. Perhaps we should commend someone for what they have done in government instead of the fact that they merely served in government.
Continuing to take on more responsibility within the Region, and by continuing to strive for the betterment of the region.
I think it's great that Horse is running for Jarlship, but I'm not sure that in itself is commendable...there are eleven people currently running for offices of more responsibility, and that doesn't include our ambassadors, article writers, troops, etc. Striving for the betterment of the region isn't something that should be special...it should be something every Citizen wants to do. Given Horse's history in the Jarl of Integration spot, personally I would like to see what he does as Jarl of Foreign Affairs if he's elected before considering a commendation.
Again, I personally like Horse, and this isn't anything I haven't told him directly at some point in the past, so I doubt he will be surprised. I just feel that at times Wintreath has been placed on the backburner, and I just don't think that's in line with receiving a regional commendation. I hope that will change if Horse wins the Jarl of Foreign Affairs position, or even if it doesn't...our region would do well to have someone like Horse more involved in it. I just think his commendation is premature at this point. For those reasons, I vote Nay.
