Perhaps she meant contentious...that can be rather depressing.

Running for something MUST be depressing. Why do you think the world has such terrible politics? BECAUSE THEY'RE DEPRESSED!!!! And, there's a likely chance you won't win the election which can be depressing. And those who are depressed and are also running for something can be suicidal. If they lose the election, there's a possibility they'll be dead within a few days due to DEPRESSION which is why I don't run for anything.

Now if you'll excuse me, I HAVE THINGS TO DO!!!!
