Just something fun I read about people whose job was to wake people up before alarm clocks were widespread. I imagine it took some dedication to have a job like this...getting up before everyone else, having to deal with people that didn't want to get out of bed, the morning grouches, the cold mornings. When alarm clocks did become widespread, I wonder if the people who did this was glad or if they missed doing that and meeting all the people.

At the very least, a job called 'Knocker-Ups' would certainly raise eyebrows today. xD
