This month continues the tale of the two Wintreaths. One one hand, the forums and the RMB continue to recover from the summer lull (in fact the RMB had its best August ever). On the other, a Discord that continues to decline in spite of every indication that activity should have grew such as the return of some of our members and the new Discord threads being used. As I recently said in the topic introducing the new Cabinet, I expect that things will continue to turn around for the better from here on out, but the Discord numbers show that it's going to take some time and effort.

Forum activity improved for a second month, thanks to forum games and to the return of
@Red Mones. Red Mones actually captured the number 1 position this month, bumping everyone else back a position from July. While forum games are continuing to hold the forums afloat, other sections were anemic. There were only 23 posts in all the discussion forums, and they will likely be the next target of a downsizing to merge inactive forums.

The prediction that we hit the floor on Discord activity in July was definitely wrong, with activity sliding nearly 25% again in August. This is in spite of a rush of Discord thread activity at the beginning of the month and the return of Anthony, Red Mones, and Sapphiron. Most areas declined, the adult community held steady, and the spam channel saw a significant increase thanks to threads. It's also the first month since tracking top 10 stats that no Citizen made more than 900 posts in a month.
It's especially concerning given that the forums and the NationStates RMB are getting more active. Is there just no interest in having discussions anymore?

The RMB had another great month. Activity not only grew again to its best levels since April, it was also the best August on the RMB in Wintreath's history. While I haven't personally had much of a chance to be active on the RMB and can't say why it is, it would appear that for the moment the community that's least-involved with the Wintreath government and off-site areas is the one that's most stable.

We had a number of birthdays this month that made parts of the community a year older, but that was more than balanced by the people whose Citizenships lapsed, resulting in a slightly lower median age this month. In general it's been around the same range as it's been in the last six months though. The more interesting number may be that as the number of Citizens has fallen, the number of Citizens who have given an age has also fallen: from 39 in March to 34 today.
