Live at the End-Year Awards
As a winter region, we're required to hold all events outdoors Wintreath closed out 2022 with the End-Year Awards, giving everyone a chance to recognize those who gave our community a bit of
flavour by voting in a huge variety of categories. Unfortunately it's not possible to extensively cover every category in this article, so we will be covering the top honours and mentioning the rest. If you would like to view the entire results, check out
the results topic! Thanks to everyone who voted, and congratulations to all the winners! You've all helped in some way to make Wintreath the amazing place that it is.
Wintreath's Finest of the Year
Winner: Marzipan
Runner-Up: trader
Wintreath's Finest of the Year is given for the person our community feels most went above and beyond for the year. Voters don't have to provide a reason for their nomination, but Marzipan (New Montith) successfully revived our gaming scene as Thane of Gaming, assisted many other cultural endeavors as Jarl of Culture, and is well-known as a friendly face in our community. They also won Mid-Year Wintreath's Finest Award (covered in TFB #44) and Wintreath's Most Mentioned (covered in TFB #40), and this win shows that their outsized role and accomplishments continue to be recognized.
The Spirit of Wintreath Award
Winner: Marzipan and trader
Runners-Up: Waggleton, Uniopolis, TGN
The Spirit of Wintreath award is for those who "best encompasses Wintreath's values of being an open, friendly, and positive force in the region", and this vote was tied between Marzipan (New Montith) and trader. Marzipan is well-known as a friendly face in our community as mentioned before, while trader is also instrumental as a postive force in the region as Senior Discord operator, where he's heavily involved in improvements to the Discord and in many of our administrative decisions and rulings. He's also Prince of Wintreath as a member of the royal family and runs Wintreath's Minecraft server.
Best Discord Game
Winner: Cards Against Humanity and Assassins
Runner-Up: Jackbox
This is the second time that Cards Against Humanity, a game programmed by Wuufu into our Zaphyr chatbot, won this category. However, this time it's sharing the Spotlight with Assassins, a game that was created by Chanku over the summer. The mechanics of Assassins are fiendishly simple and perfect for integrating into Discord chat: players are given a target over DM by the host, and if that target posts the player must respond beneath them killing them off to eliminate them from the game. The last player standing is the winner. Wintreath has now hosted three games of Assassins, and each gets better as the rules are perfect, making it an obvious choice for Best Discord Game.
Best Forum Game
Winner: Clickwars
Runners-Up: Werewolf, Spyfall
Wintreath's multiplayer clicker game won the category! Originally designed by Wintermoot for the 2018 Summersend Festival, this year we played it as an alternative to NationStates N-Day (covered in TFB #49) with new features: larger map sizes, variable countdown timers, and semi-automated host functions. These improvements helped put the game slightly over Werewolf, which has been suffering a lull since the summer.

trader Wins Assassins IIIWhile NationStates was down over the holidays, Chanku ran an Assassins game on the regional Discord pitting 7 players against each other. Ultimately, trader won the game by killing off Marzipan in the form of Fortnite dancing on them. Well, there's no accounting for taste, but he still won. Congratulations to him!
Wintermoot Appointed Vice-President of Furry ClubPresident

Wuureath) appointed
Wintermoot as VP of the Howling Bells soon after his election as Club President. In the Howling Bells, the Vice President mostly serves as a backup in case the President has to take a leave of absence. Wintermoot was the original President of the Howling Bells until the latest election, when Wuufu won the position by default. Congratulations to the new club administration!
published Administrative Curricular 01/2022, which serves as guide for administrators in handling immature behaviour that disrupts the community. While there have been no recent issues in this area, Wintreath has historically struggled to handle in a balanced manner. This curricular makes clear that immature behaviour that disrupts the community will be dealt with more severely than it has in the past, including with platform bans if necessary.
