(A Shitty Sonnet for a Light Snuffed Too Soon)

In a moment of bliss, I once again see
You dancing, turning to me with a smile.
Eyes soft, warm, and sweet as can be
Full of wonder parallel to those you beguile.

My tender heart soars when forth you call me
And finds its solace for a while.
But again I feel your gravity.
And again I face my own bitter denial.

As the façade crumbles and falls,
I ache, your laughs beginning to fade.
Futile are my desperate calls
For regardless, I know you would not have stayed.

In remembrance of what us befalls
I force my thoughts to not stray far
I find myself lonely and feeling so small. 
With new struggles I’m left here to spar.

For when someone so dear loses their fight,
How is anyone again to find their light?

To the Folks I’ve Loved Before

P1. You were the boomerang I refused to catch. 
Persistence, my dear, does not make a match.

P2. You had a hollowness that echoed in you, deep.
Empty words fade; your love couldn’t keep.

P3. A filthy soul in need of laundering.
What dirt was I for your eyes always wandering.

P4. Wayward parking drove us to a halt.
I’ve washed from my mind the taste of asphalt.

P5. A gentle breeze again stirs my petals.
Forgive me my weary search for nettles.
