The Monarch's Reflections on the Week Gone By

Greetings, Wintreath!
I am testing out putting together a weekly personal summary of things that I feel were important in the region, mixing news, discussions, and my own personal opinion at times. We'll see how it goes and if it's worth the time investment, but for now, enjoy!

This week in many ways felt like the first normal week in the region for a long time. Maybe after weeks of drama followed by weeks of emotionally intense reflecting and reconciliation, everyone is just ready to chill for a bit. Earlier in the week we did a lot of chatting about the Enneagram personality test, which most of us felt did a good job of describing who we were and our interactions and tendencies toward one another. Later in the week, many of our conversations turned toward the coronavirus as it steadily became more serious and impactful toward many of our members. At this time I am not aware of anyone in our community that has contracted COVID-19, but I have to admit that I am concerned. Many governments are taking the matter seriously now though, and I hope that will be enough to contain and push back the pandemic we're facing.

On a personal note, it was awesome watching Chanku play Sonic Riders and hanging out with her, Kiwi_Kebab, Mathyland, and others in the process. I have to admit, I don't like voice chat, but this was so laid-back and chill that I ended up having a lot of fun. It felt like for a few hours I was able to be Moot the person (as opposed to Moot the Monarch or Moot the Founder), but this was definitely the highlight of my week in the region.

Now for some news that I consider noteworthy! But before I get to that, I just want to say that I hope everybody has a great and safe week ahead. For some of us, our lives may be disrupted to some extent going into the future, and we all have issues in our lives even in the best of times...just know that whatever it is you're going through, feel free to reach out, here on the forums or the Discord or even to me personally. Just know that you aren't alone in this...whatever comes, I know we'll get through this together as we always have before.

March Thane Elections
Thane elections opened up on Sunday, and so far have proven to be the most active in Wintreath's history, with a record-breaking 31 ballots cast as of the time this was written. Even with so many votes, the election for Thane of Integration remains very tight, and any number of votes cast on the final day could change the result.

The Return of Charax
We have seen many faces return to Wintreath in the past few weeks, but none as unexpected as the return of Charax. A core member of the group that founded Wintreath along with me, Charax was the person who actually convinced me to try my hand at starting a serious region when I left Spiritus in October 2013. He was involved in most aspects of the region in its first year, either as a friend and advisor to me or as part of the government. He remains the only person ever to have been named Crown Prince in the region.

On a personal note, words can't describe how happy I am to see him around again, and to have the opportunity to rekindle my friendship with him...a friendship that was a powerful force both for me personally and for the region in its founding year.

trader joins the Discord Ops Team
Earlier this week, trader accepted an offer to join the Discord Ops Team, raising the number of ops on the server to 8. Besides just his being an incredibly awesome person, I think trader is a perfect addition to the team because he has been a long-time member of this community, has proven himself to be clear-headed and even-tempered, and has experience in moderating other Discord servers. He has also been an administrator on our Minecraft server for over a year now. I look forward to seeing the impact that I know he'll have as part of our team!

A New Discord NSFW Server
This week the old NSFW section on the Discord server was replaced with an entire NSFW server, with the requirements to join being changed as well (Citizens can see the new requirements in channel #nsfw_entry). So far the new server has had over 500 posts, with one reason being that as a server we could create multiple channels with different focuses, such as an uncensored general chat to just chill in. I look forward to seeing the new server grow and take shape into the premier area for our region's adults to hang out in.

Werewolf News
We have been playing an incredibly exciting game of Werewolf on the forums that has so far seen the townies just barely lynch two of the three wolves in the game! At this time it looks like the third has been definitely named...but you never know the truth of things until the phase is finally over! On a personal level, I have loved the back to basics format of the game, and feel that it's made for a wonderfully fun game!

What to Call That Day Everyone Got Back Together?
