  • we vote about this right? If so itll be really hard between emoticonius [or something like that] and you because i like WA involvement and the rmb stuff but i also like what he was offering. I think ima stick with this.

You do indeed! Although emoticonius is running for a different position, so you don't have to worry about that ^^
    ok. Thanks.

  • To answer your first question, there wouldn't necessarily be an actual requirement. It's all a matter of how you word it. In my college, we were "required" to attend our semesterly residence hall floor meeting. However, after a while, I realized there were literally no consequences to staying home, and it was just a tactic to get more people to come. Now, if that seems a bit sleazy it's fine: there are other alternatives to this. For example, when new nations join, we could have a weekly welcome message reminding them to join the WA and endorse our delegate. The Delegate endorsement "requirement" was merely a suggestion, not a set in stone plan.
Back in Aura Hyperia and New Hyperion, we had WA requirements. I, in fact, authored the World Assembly Requirement Act in NH. My conclusions from that experience was that, short of threatening to banject nations for not joining the WA and endorsing the Delegate, people's behaviors generally won't really change. And even actually following through with the threat to banject violating nations, although it works somewhat, doesn't really work too well. So I would certainly question the need and effectiveness of a WA endorsement requirement, regardless of whether it were enforced.

I'm also kinda confused on your proposed example alternative? Our welcome TG and WFE already have instructions to endorse the Delegate, so new nations will see that. If we were to mass-TG reminders every week, that would probably be spam. Individual reminders to new nations would certainly be nice, but I think that if we were to develop the capacity/infrastructure to do that, it would make much more sense for that to be just one part of a general new nation Integration program.

Thirdly, yes they are those who are voting but I have to drive home that I'm RMB-oriented, so playing a bit of the "RMB purist" character can't hurt :P
I'm curious on this RMB-oriented stance. To me, it doesn't feel like the RMB is inherently farther or closer to the WA than the forums or the Discord. They're all places where Wintreans can talk about things, WA included. It is true that WA discussions have recently become popular on the RMB, but the composition of the RMB and its interests seems to be continually changing in Wintreath. To change how we select our WA Thane because of this particular shift in RMB activity seems rather odd to me. (I'm also somewhat concerned about the implications it may have for further fragmentation of our community, thus exacerbating our already poor Integration, but that's a whole different discussion.)

That's a very good point! Look, I'm not going to die on any hills here: This is a position with a lot of moving parts, and I admit I'll have some learning to do, learning I'm 100% willing to partake in. To answer your question, perhaps there is no need for a WA endorsement requirement. However, as I'm going to mention in my next answer, perhaps there are other means.

Yes, that is correct. However, new nations don't always look at the welcome TGs and our WFE (in fact I believe they rarely do). I think the idea of individual reminders is great, and of course, that could be something for our thane of integration to help out with. This WA reform is not a one-position job, and our whole cabinet can assist in various capacities.

In short, working alone is unwise, and I think we can incorporate these reforms into other cabinet projects if need be, should that make more logistical sense.

I'm curious on this RMB-oriented stance. To me, it doesn't feel like the RMB is inherently farther or closer to the WA than the forums or the Discord. They're all places where Wintreans can talk about things, WA included. Here's where I have to disagree a bit. I think the RMB is inherently closer to the WA, simply because many forumgoers and discorders simply don't interact with the RMB or game side very much at all. I can attest to this, only within the past 6 or so months becoming active there again. RMBers on the other hand are a different clique, so to speak, and not only don't have as much forum or discord presence but sometimes voluntarily choose to not have any at all. I do not think this is a matter of "where the activity is" but "where our community is," and we've have always had, whether toxic or wholesome or small or large, a RMB community. I wholeheartedly believe they deserve some voice, regardless of how much, in the WA, especially because of the points I brought up earlier.

I hope you're satisfied with my answers to these questions, and if not may they serve as a sufficient spark for further discussion. :D
