Wintreath Account of Regional Tags
As of July 20th, 2019

We've maintained tags on the NationStates region page from the founding of the region, but in all that time we've never provided an explanation for why we have the tags that we do, which is a shame because in a lot of ways, they identify who we are as a region and as a community. I wanted to address this oversight, so I've created a list of our current tags along with some background on why they're our tags.


Defender
While Wintreath has not been involved in the raiding/defending game since 2015 and no longer maintains a regional military, we still consider ourselves to be defender in principle, in that we strongly believe in regional sovereignty and the right for the natives of a region to determine their own path without influence or pressure from foreign regions and organizations.

Game Player
While we believe Wintreath is best experienced socially (see Social), we're also open to those who want to keep to the core gameplay of NationStates: answering issues and/or being part of the World Assembly.

LGBT
Wintreath is proud to host a large and spirited LGBT community as part of our broader warm, accepting, and personable community!

Monarchist
Wintreath is a Monarchy, where the head of state and government is unelected. We believe there are advantages to such a system, such as the ability of the Monarch to promote regional values and justice even when doing so would be unpopular, as well as the ability to think and plan for the long-run in a consistent manner. However, our region also has many democratic elements such as our elected legislative chamber, the Underhusen, as well as elected Thanes (Vice-Ministers). We like to think that in Wintreath we have the best of both worlds.

Neutral
While we consider ourselves defender in principle as stated above, we our neutral in inter-regional conflicts which do not involve Wintreath, and we are open to relations with all regions and organizations regardless of their gameplay ideology. In the case of game-created regions, this principle is explicit through Royal Decree 008: Regarding Recognition of GCR Governments.

Offsite Chat
We chat offsite on our Discord chat server! Here we have chat about different things in a friendly environment, and play chat games such as Cards Against Humanity.

Offsite Forums
We hold discussions, have regular forum games, and conduct most formal government affairs on our off-site forums.

Regional Government
Wintreath has a regional government as established by our regional Constitution, The Fundamental Laws of Wintreath. Our government has operated continuously since December 2013, and remains one of the best ways to make your mark on the region!

Social
As a community, cooperative-based region, being social is at the core of everything we do! Whether it's hashing out law with other members of government, chatting about life with region friends, or coming together over a fun game of Werewolf or Arena, Wintreath is best experienced as a social part of our community.

World Assembly
Wintreath is active in the World Assembly, especially in the government position of Thane of World Assembly affairs.
