I've been steadily amazed at how many RPs are allowed to wallow in their inactivity. I propose that if an RP doesn't have a post made for more than a week, this inactivity needs to be investigated, and a course of action be outlined for how to restore activity. Or, if it is beyond repair, it should be killed, with no fear or favour.

That seems a bit much. Sometimes activity drops off but it isnt always permanent. From The Ashes has had long periods of inactivity but tends to come back.

Fair point, and yet all too often, activity doesn't come back. The recent Wintreath Space Expeditions is a prime example.

With this, at least an alternate course of action can be considered during the investigation, like maybe temporarily handing the reins to someone else, if hosts fall inactive, for whatever reason. This is a natural part of life, as hosts can't help becoming busy every once in a while, but that doesn't mean the RP should necessarily cease moving forward.

If the people involved in the RP elect to do nothing but wait, then that's fine too, but these discussions don't take place either.

Hmmm. I see your point. I do understand the need and support the idea. So long as a reasonable attempt to get all active members of the RP to at least share their opinions before any action is taken I can get behind something like this.

I'm wondering if we should appoint a person on the council to act as the investigator in such matters. We could call this person the Hand of Arkay, in keeping with our Elder Scrolls naming conventions.

Alas, I can't seem to find the thread where we decided what the guild naming structure would be, but if you take a look at the ranks of the guild, they bear striking similarities to the Tribunal ranking structure in Morrowind.

This is the main thread where we discussed Guild Titles/Ranks.

And I think this is a good idea. After a week of inactivity (i.e. no posts in any threads of that RP), someone in the Guild leadership contacts the host (if they're not completely absent) to figure out what's up or (if the host is absent) posts in the OOC thread and tries to create a plan with the other participants of that RP to decide what will happen -- whether that's choosing a new host, putting it on temporary hiatus, or archiving it, a dialogue does need to occur.

If each member of the Council does not have a specific role, though (as is the current situation), I think all members of the Guild leadership should try to take part in the discussion -- though the Council having roles could definitely be a good idea (I think that was the initial intention of it, anyway).

It was, indeed. Don't know when people began getting put on the council for no specific role. It was supposed to be like a mini cabinet.

That's not to say everyone shouldn't pitch in and help out, of course.
