I thought this was an interesting article that gives some insight into what it was like to be a gay man in the 1960s, even someone that was in the sphere of one as extraordinarily accepting as Fred Rogers. It's easy to not realize how far gay rights have come since then, but back then gay people were often summarily terminated from their jobs for having gay relationships, and gay guys marrying women to try to fit in was really a thing...in fact, gay guys often married lesbians so they both would fit into society back then. But it's nice that someone that lived through all that can now express themselves in this day and age...the article as a whole made me happy, so I thought I would share it. :)

  • Slightly earlier, but I thought The Imitation Game gave quite a shocking insight into attitudes at the time, as well as being a great film in its own right.
