The 2nd Robin Steak Fry

After the success of the first Steak Fry, I have decided to hold a second one, as an informal debate and discussion with the general citizenry about the current state and the future of the Underhusen and Wintreath.  Here we go!!
Good evening candidates, citizens and welcome to the 2nd Harkin Robin Steak Fry!  Today we have assembled a variety of Underhusen candidates from throughout Wintreath to inform and discuss their platforms, goals for this 17th session of the Underhusen and visions for Wintreath as a whole in the future, with you, the citizenry.  The questions are as follows:

1. Before we get into the real meat of this event, I wanted to ask all of you—what make you decide to run for the Underhusen?  What do you think the main goal of the 17th legislature should be? 

2. As we all know, for an organism to remain successful and prosperous, it must expand.  What do you believe is the best way to catalyse growth and the expansion of Wintreath within NationStates?  Are there strategies of other regions that you believe could be adopted by us to increase the success of our recruitment efforts? 

3. What do you think is the biggest problem facing Wintreath at this point?

4. Who is your favourite politician from history?

5. What is your favourite form of government?

6. Are there any other questions that you believe candidates should answer?  As this is a more informal debate (it's a steak fry, after all) feel free to engage in debate, or productive discussion, with your fellow candidates and upstanding citizens of the Wintreath community! 

7. And now, arguably the most important question of them all—how would you like your steak?

1. Before we get into the real meat of this event, I wanted to ask all of you—what make you decide to run for the Underhusen?  What do you think the main goal of the 17th legislature should be?

I have decided to run for the Underhusen to help increase the activity in the region and the government.  Our main goal this term should be to get more involvement and to increase new members in the area.  We can achieve a lot of this by bigger presence of the people in government.

2. As we all know, for an organism to remain successful and prosperous, it must expand.  What do you believe is the best way to catalyse growth and the expansion of Wintreath within NationStates?  Are there strategies of other regions that you believe could be adopted by us to increase the success of our recruitment efforts?

I think to expand and to get the new members to Wintreath, we should increase the amount of people doing recruiting, a call to all members of government to set aside time to recruit.

3. What do you think is the biggest problem facing Wintreath at this point?

I think right at this moment the biggest opportunity we have is in recruitment and activity.

4. Who is your favourite politician from history?

My favorite politician.....hm.  I would have to say Jimmy Carter, he was a master of building foreign affairs and relations.

5. What is your favourite form of government?

I am partial to the Monarch system of government.  Long live the King!!

6. Are there any other questions that you believe candidates should answer?  As this is a more informal debate (it's a steak fry, after all) feel free to engage in debate, or productive discussion, with your fellow candidates and upstanding citizens of the Wintreath community!

As of right now I don't have a question I have not already asked.

7. And now, arguably the most important question of them all—how would you like your steak?

1. Before we get into the real meat of this event, I wanted to ask all of you—what make you decide to run for the Underhusen?  What do you think the main goal of the 17th legislature should be? 

Honestly what made me decide to run was 40% boredom, 40% not many people were running and 20% I thought I could maybe help out the region as best I can

2. As we all know, for an organism to remain successful and prosperous, it must expand.  What do you believe is the best way to catalyse growth and the expansion of Wintreath within NationStates?  Are there strategies of other regions that you believe could be adopted by us to increase the success of our recruitment efforts? 

It may be an unpopular opinion but I don't want Wintreath to be one of the biggest regions in NS... while we could defiantly do with being bigger and more involved, I feel that the especially large regions lack the same community spirit that we have here, as such I'm likely not to draw too much from the giants. All that being said we definately need more citizen involvement in recruitment, how to achieve this though? I'm not entirely sure, though I do have some ideas that I hope to discuss over the next term.

3. What do you think is the biggest problem facing Wintreath at this point?

Hmm, probably lack of Government activity, in all branches, while lack of activity in general can be to blame, I know that examples like me don't help...

4. Who is your favourite politician from history?

Same as always Marcus Tullius Cicero of the Roman Republic

5. What is your favourite form of government?

A Representative Technocracy

Eh, I guess I'd ask candidates what they think makes Wintreath stand out as a region and how they could emphasise these aspects?

7. And now, arguably the most important question of them all—how would you like your steak?

1) Partly a desire for more choices in the election, partly a desire for more support for the roleplay area.

2) I honestly don't know much about recruitment because I never took part in it much and I came here after hearing about Wintreath from another, scummier region but I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on the issue and work towards it.

3) In activity. Simple.

4) In history? FDR. In modern politics? Don't know, I suppose I respect Nick Clegg.

5) Parliamentary democracy with a alternative or STV vote system.

6) Not really, if I'm honest.

As to why I wanted to run there are a few reasons among those are the fact that I have always ran in the elections and I wanted to be able to work on fixing up some of the regional laws.

As to the goals for the next session, well it should be to help make sure the front doesn't fall off of the region and that Wintermoot doesn't faint like the emoticons have predicted. However on a more serious note, it should be more focused on reviewing our laws and fixing them if there are issues with them.

As we all know, for an organism to remain successful and prosperous, it must expand.  What do you believe is the best way to catalyze growth and the expansion of Wintreath within NationStates?  Are there strategies of other regions that you believe could be adopted by us to increase the success of our recruitment efforts? 

To be fair in this area I have little experience so I can not speak here all that much. I would like to state that I do have similar feelings as my candidate, Hannah, when it comes to making our region larger.

3. What do you think is the biggest problem facing Wintreath at this point?

Those heretics that don't believe in the potato. In seriousness though, I have to agree with some of my fellow candidates, inactivity. I will clarify this a bit. While I have said that we shouldn't necessarily worry about this inactivity, if it does continue longer than it should, which I would put around the end of September at the latest, then we should worry. However for right now I don't think we have as much to worry about.

4. Who is your favorite politician from history?

In history, as in no longer living, probably FDR. In general though I do have a different answer

5. What is your favorite form of government?

I will admit I prefer an devolved autocracy with meritocratic and republican elements. Basically think a central person has all the power but willingly creates institutions and the like to allow the citizens some voice, and a removal of power from the central authority in order to allow better management in certain areas with the parts that are not of republican elements being entirely meritocratic. Think what Warzone Sandbox has.

However here I do think our system works well enough.

Eh, I guess I'd ask candidates what they think makes Wintreath stand out as a region and how they could emphasize these aspects?

To be fair I have to say it's our openness as a region. An great way to emphasize this would be to have more sex on the IRC!
