Welcome to the region Crushita!
I have a few questions for you.
1. What happened to you in Valar?
2. What happened to you in Ainur?
3. What got you to come to Wintreath?
Please answer honestly. I look forward to your response
1. Valar was a region that failed quite simply. I wasn't up to the task of creating a region or having the time to put into it.
2. Loooooooong story short, Ainur was the first region I ever joined ,and I was one of its first members. Most of the older members had a falling out with the king, which ended with three of us being banned and the rest of us leaving, except for one of the older members.
3. I first heard of Wintreath in the Lazarus Liberation Chatroom. Decided to check it, out was intrigued but I was focused on Valar at that point. Later when Wintreath decided to open relations with the now dead Valar, I thought it would be a nice place to come to in my pursuit to find a new home.
Elaborate on the story regarding Ainur please? When I asked for honesty, I also did not want details skimped out on please.
I was going to post this at 4:00 EST but I was interrupted xD
Well long version it is! I would say the first sign something was wrong in Ainur was when 94 Block was appointed to the head of the Knights of Ainur after Emrys Mercer(Or Anders Blakewood, though I always call him Bayard which was his first name in Ainur) suddenly resigned from the position. The Knights of Ainur was never a big part of Ainur, and few people had any interest in it being a big part of Ainur, so the role was for the most part a ceremonial thing.
While I can see why Augustus would bring someone in, the sheer suddenness of the resignation, where one day everything was normal, and suddenly was not, reminded me of Ainur's past.
Emrys(Bayard,I think I'm going to refer to him as that now to prevent me from having to retype his name every time) was Ainur's most controversial figure. On one hand he was one of the hardest works in Ainur, constantly striving to improve the region, on the other hand he had revolted three times before, twice against King Apollo, once when we was the Crown Prince and once later, where he was temporarily banned. The rather short third revolt against Augustus ended in a rather odd spam war, trust me when I say I barely understand it either.
Either way, he had held many high positions in Ainur well, but his sudden departure from that position reminded me of his first revolt against Apollo. I considered Bayard one of my friends, but didn't question him about it. At the time Augustus seemed like a good king, I had nothing against him, partly because I stayed of government.
Anyway, some time passed, and Block becomes more and more like Augustus's lap dog, every time someone spoke out against something supported by the King, or a post by the King, or anything involving him, he would strike back in Augustus's favour, which I found odd. After all, nobody agrees with somebody all the time. Still I brushed it off.
Ainur had become less and less fun to me, RP was stifled, and Augustus seemed rather anti-spam(Theres no better term for the potato revolution) Especially when he said something very odd, there was no RP allowed in the Bar. The Bar was Ainur's main chat thread, and we RPed all the time, playing around before getting around to serious discussion, so this came out of the blue. While it was later overturned.
I had started feeling like Ainur had lost its appeal, but I was loath to leave the region. I was a founding member, I went to my friend Bayard for advice. In the end we started talking about what we felt was wrong with Ainur, and soon things started towards revolution.
Older members constantly ran but almost never won, members who almost never posted turned up for elections. We knew these members never posted because Ainur's voting system is public voting. Everyone knows who votes for who. This was originally put in to prevent voter fraud after an incident. We felt this highly suspicious.
What really started the revolution though was sheer frustration. We soon realized democracy was dead in Ainur. We were surrounded by Augustus's cronies, and we were too few to stop them. There were a few main people who ran under the guise of democracy, Jack Dawkins, who was Steward more often then not, I don't even remember the last time the steward didn't have the last name Dawkins, it was a sign of Augustus's reign. 94 Block was a Dawkins, most of the stewards were Dawkins, Dawkins in Senate.
We were frustrated by this destruction of the democracy Ainur was built on, the realization that the Constitution had been slowly manipulated over many forms to fit Augustus's needs. The slow failure of Ainur to thrive, RP was dead, we were holding on by a thread of spam. Politics ceased to exist and every Augustine bill was passed through with token opposition, festivals were so poorly managed that half of the sub forums never got created. We were all under the thumb of Augustus, and we wanted it to stop. So we went the way of Revolution.
The original group was of four, three older members, Me, Bayard, and Halsey, and one newer member, Firebrand. We plotted and charted what we wanted a new Ainur to be. Then, we invited more people, all the old members, only one refused, Greyvendal, Ainur's Admin since inception, on the grounds that he should stay neutral in any conflict. He left with us when we were banned.
We were betrayed by one of our own though, Ashton Mercer. I hold no ill will towards him, he did what he felt was right, he believed our intentions were darker then throwing Augustus off the throne. He was our downfall anyway.
We were tried by the Crown Prince, someone who obviously had a reason to want the monarchy to stay. We asked for another, more impartial judge, we were refused. We asked for a jury, we were refused. We were in a kangaroo court, and we knew the outcome. We would be held guilty. We presented a great case, though it wasn't meant to appeal to the judge, the court. We knew our only chance was appealing to the people. In the end we were banned, and so many who weren't part of our scheme joined us. And thats how I left Ainur, a region I still hold dear in my heart.
